Debating on dragging my 1969 camper to TRF or just pitching a tent. Do many people have generators going?

Go to my facebook to see the camper.... it's really small.. but if it's not allowed or not many people do that...I'll leave it.

Oh....and Chris.... don't look at the pictures of the camper. You'll only get angry and threaten me with bodily harm.

As the seasoned TRF campers "mature", more and more are looking at more comfortable camping.

As far as generators, there are no restrictions in the large campgrounds. I believe there is a 10 PM no noise restriction in the family campgrounds. However, three years ago, someone took an exception to my noisy generator, and filled my gas tank with biologically processed beer. Now I have a quiet Honda generator.

Generators are fine, and we are all on the lookout for people who mess with our friends generators.
I would suggest a box cover for it... keeps it safe and quiets it down as well
Be considerate though. I had a jerk set his up 3 feet from my tent when he got in around 2am. There were words said... and it moved the next night. Something to do with either it moved or his camper would never move again... I don't play well when woken up.

*fortunately i had enough rum in me to get some sleep still that first night.*

We have a pop up, and still go primative, just use battery powered fans and lights, and use solar showers, and propane tent heaters if needed.

OK. I frequent Scarborough and am considering a crusade down to TRF. Is it mostly tents, campers? Are there RVs and hook-ups? I can swing either of those. Let a newb know.

There are mostly tents, but several campers/RV's. It is all primative camping, ie no running water, no electric, no hook-ups. You are camping in a large field with a few gravel roads.

There are several generators in the main camping areas and there are no resistrictions there, however please do exercise some courtsey and don't do something like setting up your generator 5 feet from a tent and flip it on all night long.  Or you will get an angry rennie who may or not be clothed and may or not be sober in your face. Tents aren't known for their sound insulating technology and I don't know a single person who either likes to be woken up to a loud noise in their face or isn't the most pleasent person after trying to sleep all night with not only the sound of a generator in their face but smell of the gases in their face.

Turning it on for small periods of time through the evening and night, or flipping it on before the lot of people are crashing is generally on pair. However, that being said there are no restrictions and you can honestly tell them to bugger off if you wanted to technically. You just won't be well liked after awhile.

last year we camped in a tent.  this year we will be in a travel trailer.

as far as camping at trf is concerned:

Very primative camping, no running water, etc.
Early October, the weather is still pretty warm, dewy, so the nights spent in the tent aren't too bad.
By mid to latter part of the season, the nights get chilly and not dewy, just down right wet.

generators:  unless you have one of the new quiet ones or can reduce the noise somehow, you might have some grumpy faces camped next to you...

the choice is yours.  let us know what you will be in so we can plan for the space needed.

You know, I may be strange, but I LOVE the lull of a generator. Puts me right to sleep...

*of course, it doesn't hurt that I'm packin away a couple Vicodin as well*

We've got a pretty good tent setup- airbed on frame, full kitchen, etc...

We HAVE rented a pop-up for the long Thanksgiving weekend, but we wont this year because it's just so pricey; we may in the future buy a small trailer (J-Feather or similar)

and yeah, it's the aging Rennie thing... comfort is good!
