Hail and well met to all!  I just found this wonderful site and thought I would jump in by asking where you all get your pouches?

At our fair (Sterling) we only have one leathersmith (Potomac Leather). They do nice work, but I am looking for a leather pouch for a more "noble" style outfit. Unfortunately, Potomac's style is more along the line of hunter/woodsman rather than something a noble would wear.  I'd love to see what other people have.

Thanks.

Here's a site for a leatherworker I like at TRF: http://www.excaliburleather.com/catalog/accessories.html

I have a pair of their gauntlets and a pirate hat and love both.  My persona isn't noble, so I didn't think the pouches would fit in, but they might with your outfit.  The trim comes in several colors, so you should be able to match your garb.

Also, CDragonworks on this forum does really lovely custom leatherwork, if you want something one-of-a-kind.

Do you happen to know if these pouches have any kind of closure? I like the look, but need something I can secure closed.

I'm afraid I don't know.  I've looked at them only casually and cannot recall if they have a closure or not.  I'm sure someone on here has one and can tell you.

Consulting my Renn Merchant Bookmarks, I come up with:

Pouches at Twisted Gryphon Leather

Pouches at Sofi's Stitches

Pouches at Moresca - they're not leather, but you still might see something you like.

Pouches at Armstreet

Pouches at Ravenswood (possibly your best bet)

Good luck! I was so frustrated trying to find a pouch that was affordable yet decent quality that I'm now making mine myself.  ;D

I for one made my own. I bought a small soft leather hide at Hobby Lobby for $26.00 and made one belt pouch with a flap and a small circular drawstring pouch and still have enough for bracers and maybe another pouch or two.

also if youre going noble, remember that any bit of extravagance in fabric helps, so why not get a pouch made to match your garb?

There is a hidden snap under the colored section.

Making them to match is always more fun.  And you end up with a whole menagerie of wonderful pouches! ;D

The Marques has one from them that has a swing latch on it. But you can see very little of the pouch though because it resides under the picadils of his doublet.

We have 3 or 4 Excalibur Leather pouches between my husband and me.  They are great!  The first one we bought is about 12 years old and still looks brand new.  You can see it in the picture below.

Steve has a solid black one that he wears with his noble garb.  I wear the red one with pirate garb, Scottish garb (upper & middle class), and wench wear.  The pouches we have do have a snap front closure.  You can't see the snap, but it's very sturdy and has never come open and caused things to fall out.  Inside, there is the main pouch, and another piece of leather sewn in to make a smaller pocket, which I find very helpful for my cell phone, comb, and tissues.
