Atmos is working on the main gasline near our house.
So of course they cut the gas lines.
Then the phone lines,
cable lines
fiber optic internet lines.

And I'm sure they gave no one any warning that they were working in the area, right?
"It's just water, officer, I swear. And yeast. And a little honey. How the alcohol got in, I have no idea!"

I feel your pain ... happened ALL the time when they were renovating the dorm nextdoor when I was in college back when.  We never knew when we would have water - or power!

Good luck!

Lord I need to get more sleep. I totally read yoir post as "when they were renovating the *damn* next door..."

I was thinking, how cool to live next door to a damn!  :)

What makes me want to pull my hair out are those emercency broadcast system tests on TV. Geesh, if there ever really was an emergency and I had to stay tuned and listen to that...! Yikes!

This to shall pass.

I have a friend in Kiev, he owns an apartment building. He once told me that in his entire life he's never had the phone, gas, water, or electric, all on at the same time.

My life the past couple of weeks...
Saw evidence of drywood termites swarm, so had to get termite treatment for the house
A beautiful 60' tree in my back yard is dying, so it has to come down before it falls down
My lawnomower almost blew up
Had a major malfunction with my computer (thanks Norton!)
A snake got into my office (EEEWWWW!)
Batteries on my portable phones went out - both of them - at the same time
My homeowners insurance company decided I was underinsured and wanted to raise my rates, so had to find another company which meant getting my house inspected
Dogs had to go to the vet
My refrigerator died
The air handler for the AC leaked all over the floor due to extra heavy condensation
Wrote a large check to Uncle Sam for 1040 ES

Surprised I still have hair left!

I know this isn't as bad as your situation, however, what makes me want to pull out my hair is the apartment management where I live. First off, the apartment building used to be a hotel many years ago and has been turned into an efficiency apartment building. This being said the only window I have is a sliding patio doorwall. If I want fresh air I have to open the door. Usually this is not a problem but this year it is because the screen door fell apart 3 months ago. I've been trying to get management to either repair it or replace it. It's really irritating and stressful for me as I want the fresh air but can't get it because of the bugs coming in esp. wasps. I've had chipmunks and squirrels try to come in and a couple weeks ago a Canadian goose walked in. You would think that by telling them of the wildlife coming into the apartment it would light a fire under their butts to get this taken care of but it hasn't  >:(.

OMG! :o  I would think that could qualify for a call to your local zoning board or at least a news station!

Nope...They called Verizon to come out and stakes their lines AFTER they had already cut nearly everyone of them for two blocks.

What makes me want to pull my hair out:

First, I hate the way most companies answer the phone now-a-days.  "We have a new menu.  Please listen carefully, as options have changed.  Please enter your 16 digit account #." Then, "if you want this, push 1, if you want that push 2."  Then when you push that, another message comes on with "For billing, press this, for credits, push this" and so forth ad nauseam.

When you finally end up pushing the buttons they say you need to, you are on terminal hold - and then they disconnect you!

When we were in an apartment, The screen was coming out of the screen door frame. We could not open the glass door and leave the screen or the cat would get out of the hole. I took the screen door and turned it upside down in the track. The screen was now hanging out of the top of the door, since it now looked bad they repaired it in a couple days.

They're working on the residential streets in this area including our street.  Our street is a cul-de-sac so we only have 1 way in & out of our driveway.  The workers at times seem to think that everyone is out during the day (they do it from 8-5) so how dare I need to leave at 3:30 to go somewhere.  I think its only a few more weeks but I'm dreading it.

Sadly they came 3 months ago and took the screen door when I called about it falling apart. They just haven't been back. When I've called I'm told that it's on the list, they're trying to get a new one for me, they've been working on other major repairs. I think they are hoping I'll forget and/or give up.

Celtic Lady, perhaps you could make your own from screening and some wood slats. Shouldn't be that expensive. Just nail it to the top of the door frame and with the wood making a frame it will hang down and help keep out alot of wildlife.

I'd also keep the reciepts and deduct it from my rent if you thought you could get away with it.

I'm sorry you're being treated like this.

Getting ready to go on a road trip and the car breaks down and it is never cheap to get it fixed.
