I just found an Ebay store a few days ago (that has a 99.9% positive rating) that has all leather corsets, and many of their "Buy it Now" auctions are for custom pieces.  I'm just about to buy two different corsets, and I'll be spending less than $300... total.  In fact, I think I'll go do that now!!!   ;D

Not sure if I should post a link here, but I'd be happy to renmail it to anyone who wants it!  Oh!!!  I'm not affiliated with the site in anyway, either!

hiya rani!

will you send me the link to the ebay site you are talking about?

you will be here on hallow's eve weekend, jes?  can't wait to see ya again!

If it's corsets or bodices you want you should look at "Damseldress.com". Her prices are very reasonable, she is a rennie and the product line looks great.

I have a Damsel pirate bodice.  ;D  ;D  Her work is wonderful! I get tons of questions and compliments about that bodice.  :)

Crimson Gyspy is a good source for bodices too.

Oops... sorry Bonnie, I sent it this morning and forgot to answer your question!  Yes, I will indeed be down there for All Hallows!!!  I'll be camping with the Bayou Scoundrels, so we might actually get to spend more than 5 minutes together this time!  Can't wait to see you again, either, and everyone else I finally got to meet while I was having such a wonderful time at Scarby!!!  Won't it be fun to just walk into the campground this time, though, instead of having to drive somewhere, then meet and eat?  :D  LOLOL

Since I wasn't working at Scarby for the one day I made it out, I was attacked by my wife and her friends and dressed "appropriately" (i.e., in non-blacksmithing roughout)- a hunter green Dra shirt, a slashed black leather doublet, black pants, and knee-boots, with a German cut-n-thrust sword on my hip as opposed to my usual 14th century infantry sword. Apparently, I looked nice (have to ask Element of Aire, since I ran into her and her fuzzy lad at a fur shop), so I am now under orders to wear said outfit any chance I get at TRF this year. So, since it appeared to be a hit, I am now trying to find similar clothing to expand out the new repertoire of garb and have an alternate to bare-chested or sleeveless tunics and a leather apron  ;D

We live in Charlotte, NC, but are thinking seriously about attending the TRF for the first time this year. We heard it is the 'biggest, baddest Faire in the land.' Is this true? Also, any tips for the totally-never-been-to TRF before?

Also, as we will be flying out there for a weekend, we will have to cut back on the weaponry we usually carry. I don't even want to have to think about explaining why we have 'Excalibur' on the bottom of a suitcase. (But Officer, it's peace-tied!)

Hey Lady Goodhaven! Looks like you and I are TRF virgins. But I'll tell you that I was told the same thing. That if you enjoy a faire then you'll love TRF as it is the biggest in the land.

Only one way to find out though. Hitch a wagon to my old mule and go find out for maself.  ;D

Hard shell rifle cases make good sword holders for travel. Check with your airline for any restrictions.

Breandan

I second Ravic's recommendation. If they ask any questions, just tell them that you are taking a replica weapon to a renaissance festival, usually settles it. One other thing you might want to do is padlock the rifle case to keep any sticky-fingered ground crew from running off with it.

Don't they need a TSA approved lock? Been a while since I flew and I knew I had to get one so inspectors could open cases if they had too.

if they need in a case, the TSA has absolutely no compunctions about taking bolt cutters to it. I shall refrain from saying more about them  :-X

Locks have gotten a little better since I had to use them. But most airlines suggest them anyway.

Ah, bliss. Thanks for all the good news about TRF. I think I shall mark the calendar and check flight prices this weekend!
