So here are some more photos of my progress

So it doesn't look like much because 1: I don't have a dress dummy to display it on and 2: it does not have the hoop skirt under it, but it makes me happy :)  But I did pleats! Whoopee!!!

So to finish I have to sew the hem, and then sew the edges where the opening splits, and apply the trim.  After that I can work on the detachable sleeves! Yay for progress!

It looks wonderful.  And I know how you feel about the dress dummy thing.  One day  :)

yes one day, i will get my dress dummy
i attempted the duct tape dress dummy and it came out horrible. we were a bit typsy doing it! lol.  so it wasnt sturdy enough, and then when i actually saw it, i got upset because i totally felt that it was huge, so my friends and i stomped on our duct tape dummies while drinking baileys milk shakes :)

Gotta love a time period where being...well endowed all over...was a sign of prosperity and health. Not everyone could afford lots of yummy food.

yes corsets, thank god :)

talking about corsets. i have a question. i am currently working on a simple, light boned corset to not so much pull everything in tightly, but kind of pull it in.  reason being is fibromyalgia=pain, so i cant have to much restriction on me.  now i basically put 34 channels all around the bodice, and just for reference my bust is 44 inches, and my waist is 48-50 inches.  I was talking to a friend today who does not sew but happens to work at the PARF, and she told me that 37 channels is not enough, even for lightly boning, what do you think?  Is it enough, or no?

When it comes to boning corsets, i make 20 to 25 channels using the Cotton Canvas Duck. Of course, that depends on the size of the client. I space mine 1 /12" apart for comfort and support.

The Over the Bodice partlet  for Kathryn is almost finished in that I need to sew the buttons spaced 2" apart, string 2 rows of pearls on jewelry wire to be mnore secure. The hanging sleeves need bias tape and a deep maroon grosgrain ribbon in 5/8" wide for the ties. Then on to the Bodice Muslin and Shoulder rolls. The Underskirt is cut out and ready to put together.

Yeah, with my 34 channels, I am thinking I have enough channels to properly hold me in :)

Kathryn's project so far. I am going about this all different. Plan to have the underskirt done soon.

The Over the Bodice Partlet. I used a pattern from another packet called Period Patterns I had bought many years ago. I pearled the collar part of the Partlet that would show when worn. There are loops under each arm attached to buttons at the sides for more comfort.

The back showing the buttons and pearls I threaded.

Closeup of the Buttons and Pearls. There are 240 6mm pearls on the Partlet alone. Not to mention all that there are on the Sleeves, Partlet collar, and Underskirt. LOTS!!!!!

Sleeve closeup. I have to tie off the Grosgrain ribbon to attach the Gold Filigree tips. The inside of the sleeve lining is also pearled.

The Neck Ruff to the chemise. I think this is one of the best ones I have done.

More photos as I progress even further.
