Hi, my first real post other than my intro.  I could use some suggestions, particularly for pants.  I have:

this coat

this doublet

this shirt.

Also some black wrap pants and a flat hat that you can sort of make out in my avatar.  Not sure you can really wear that stuff all together, though I have it on good authority from my wife and sister it does all match.  I have some calf high moccasins on order, but they won't be here for a while.

I'm not very happy with the look of the wrap pants.  I'd like suggestions about a better alternative.  I'd consider alternatives for the shirt, too.  We thinking about trying to hit the Kansas City faire in early September, so something I could get before that would be nice.  Making something might be a possibility, too.

Thanks,
Jon

Actually, KCRF has some of the best men's pants I've seen, so I'd actually recommend wearing your current pants and picking up a new pair inside the gates.  Milord has several pairs bought from merchants at Fair.  His favorites are these brown nubby ones from Ophelia's, and these striped corduroy ones from Heart's Afire (pix taken before he bought his tall boots, so they're stretched way down to the ankle).

I will say that it does look like, from your avatar, that you can't see that much of your pants anyway, so you could definitely get away with something simple, like basic breeches from Sofi's or the like (I'm not sure what the status of our Sofi's vendor is this season, though.)

With that coat and doublet I think you need some swashbuckler boots with that and you can always make a nice pair of breeches for very little money. something simple would work, I think.

I made Simplicity 4059 for myself.  Very easy to make and very comfy!  Though I would like the leg to be a bit longer, easy change to the pattern.  I made the smallest size and the cuff came to just below my knee.

;)  I have that pattern.  I'm getting ready to make the doublet and shirt.

Thanks for the suggestions. I may give that pattern a shot.  Those pants are more or less what I had in mind.

I think maybe the doublet and coat don't really go together.  I was going for more of a noble look with the shirt and doublet, but then ran onto the coat and really liked it.  I think I may try to build them into two different outfits.

I made the doublet for hubby and the long doublet as a pirate style coat for me.

For the wrap pants most of my guy friends at faire wear them. It looks like you just have them knotted at your ankles, if you have enough give to them you could try wrapping the ends round your ankles for a tighter fit.

Wonderful. I am looking forward to making the doublet.

Great idea for the long doublet. I have been thinking of doing a Pirate persona. This may be what I need. I would love to see what you did with yours Dinobabe.  ;)

Here is the doublet.  I made it reversible.  It was my first one.

This is the coat.  I wanted a pirate feel but not the Colonial look.  The sleeves are detachable (not shown).  They attach via silver toggles instead of ribbon.  I have added hooks to the front, a chain to one shoulder, and I have a few more plans.  It is also reversible.

Very nice Dinobabe. they look great. I am going to stick with onesided for my doublet for now. I may tinker with the other for a pirate coat.
thanks for sharing the pictures.

No prob!  I like reversible because you get two garments for the sewing of one! ;)

Also, on the long coat I split the back "skirting" seam to open it up.
