Yes friends, another year at The Texas Renaissance Festival is about to get underway.  The Performance Company will have its first rehearsal to kick off the 2009 season this Saturday, August 15th.  Be thinking of us whilst we are out sweating, working, dehydrating, mosquito baiting, ant biting and laboring, all for your enjoyment.   ;D

We have a great lot of characters lined up for you this year including all of the old favorites, and we have a new character group this year as well, the Peasants.  The live only to be graced with the chance to have a go at the dirt on your boot.  That is their greatest treasure.

We'll be coming up with some new contests this year and keeping with many of those we've been holding the past few years.  And don't forget to visit our website www.texrenfest.com where you can find themed weekend adventure brochures that will work for any weekend you are visiting.

I can't wait to get started and I know all of you are chomping at the bit to hear that opening day cannon!

Cheers all and Huzzah!

Hi Stacy - I'm sure we are all anxiously awaiting opening gate and the celebration of TRF's 35th year!  The TRF Performance Company is the best, and we appreciate those hours you all practice under the unforgiving Texas sun.

It sounds like The Peasants will be a lot of fun.  Heck ... I usually come as a peasant for the first 2-3 weeks until it cools down a bit.   :)    See you soon!

Breandan

aaaaaaand.... cue freakout session as we scramble to get stock ready for opening weekend :D

Seriously, though, the idea of a peasant group is something I have always pondered. Need a leper, though, no group of peasants are complete without a leper... or a man named Dennis who looks like an old woman from behind and is part of an anarcho-syndicalist commune  ;D

Actually, since we only rehearse on the weekends (and really only Saturday,Sunday is reserved for dance and fight call), we really put together this amazing show for all of you in a very limited amount of time. I am constantly amazed every year by the quality of work put out by my fellow perfomance company members in such a short amount of time, and am very proud to work with them and call them family. Huzzah to you all!!

That being said, just with what I've seen and heard so far, this season is SOOO gonna rock!!
