Little Green Puppy

Many of you know Jock and Sundance.  Sundance passed away yesterday just 4 days after his 13th birthday.  He was a very happy dog, and had a very long happy life.  Just this spring he fathered a litter of pups, and Jock adopted Sorcha from the litter.  Sorcha is starting to look a lot like Sundance, and Sundance lives on through her.  Sundance left his mark on many of our hearts and will be truly missed.  Sundance will be looking down on us this year at Renaissance, smiling down at all of his friends.  Below is a poem that I am posting for Sundance.  Picture is courtesy of johnsolberg.com.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
I'm gonna get me a geg of Kinness!!  Darn it...I MEANT a GEG of KINNESS!  Haha!  I need another beer!!

That dog was as much a part of my fair visits as some of the 'street'.  Hell, I think I interacted with him more than most of the staff.

Sorry to hear.  A beautiful animal.

I will be looking for a dog for the family soon, hope I can find one as special as Sundance!

Because it's dull you twit, it'll hurt more. Now SEW, and keep the stitches small

We'll miss Sundance.  He was a fixture of fest.

Please let Jock know that we are thinking of him.

We can't wait to meet Sorcha!

That is so sad, I would start everyday see him and Jock and others down in the knoll. Sundance will be missed.

He was such a beautiful dog. I can't wait to see his daughter though!
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

Pups/dogs are so much a part of our lives and they give so much...I wish they could live forever.  My heart goes out to you, Jock.  Sundance was a beautiful dog and will be greatly missed.  Looking very forward to meeting Sorcha.

So sorry to hear this.  MNRF would be a less joyful place were it not for our four legged friends like Sundance.  I can't imagine fest without animals as part of the experience.

I met the new puppy on Saturday. She's a cuuuuuutieee! Of course that doesn't make the loss of Sundance any easier. But it is nice that his progeny is there to keep Jock company.
