I'm making a high-necked partlet, and I want the neck to button close, and I'm looking for ideas for the button loops.  I think I have some white satin rattail I could use, but I'm wondering what my other options are.  Self fabric?  Thread loops?  Anyone have favorites/tutorials?

Have you considered 1/4 inch elastic cording?

It's not as fancy as satin, but it makes buttoning a bit easier, and on those days when your collar seems a little tight, it gives you a little extra breathing room.  ;)

Katie, that's actually what I would normally do!!  ;) And I think I have some in white, but if I don't, I'm wondering what I could use instead, *today,* since I won't be able to get anywhere to buy something until tomorrow.

gem,

White Middy Braid  or White Soutash works very slick for looping. I have used both for looping with great success.

Rather than button front, what about a ribbon tie closure at the neck?   I know that was used a lot and allows you to adjust the neck a bit.  All you need is an eyelet on either side of the neck or you can just sew the ribbon in.  I've seen both and done the sewn in ribbon.   It works pretty well.

Thanks, Isabella.  I considered it, but I already have a chemise/shirt that ties closed at the neck, and I don't have one that buttons, so that's why I was leaning toward buttons. (Btw--we've missed you round here!!)

Lady K, thanks--I'll have a look for that tomorrow.  (Didn't quite get to the buttons yet; the embroidery on the collar ate up my evening!)
