Sir Sebastian Phoenix

So after returning my freshly ordered SCA boots (tear in eye) because they were small in the toe box...I need some help. I can't size up because they were the biggest size.

I'm now looking into boot Spats for a pair of leather biker boots i already own. Any suggestion on where to find some leather ones? Most of the ones online are vinyl or cheap-ey costume grade and wouldn't last me a season.

With CRF less than a month away I need a solution quick.

All I've found to buy are these really short pirate ones: http://www.dresslikeapirate.com/scart/boots-shoes-leather-boot-spats-p-345.html

I did find this tutorial from a girl who made some out of an old leather shirt. It might give you a general idea of what you could do to make your own? http://www.flickr.com/photos/lovemaegan/3851121754/in/set-72157618881398680/

Hopefully someone else will have a better suggestion for you!

Did http://www.renboots.com/ have a larger size?

Or anyone else?

Also, if the problem is width, a reputable boot repair shop can stretch leather boots for you.

Ive looked at renboots.com but i think the round toe is going to be the problem there too.
I wear a solid 15. Since their 16s are cut like 15s I fear the same

I have been thinking about some riding gaiters or 1/2 chaps. But then I fear I'll be pushing the HA thing too much being on cast.

What are the requirements for your character?  If historical accuracy is a concern, I'd think shoes would be preferable to fake-boot-tops.

But... you might be able to take some existing false boot covers, and tweak them so that they don't look so fake, and so they blend seamlessly with a pair of shoes that fits you well.  This is commonly done for movie/TV costumes (not necessarily historical ones, but stay with me).  You'd have to experiment with different paint techniques, etc... but a month?  That should give you plenty of time to play around a little.

This might help:

Sorry about the delay, busy weekend.

Gem my character is a Baron but has only achieved the title through his military service. He is somewhat of a traveled man and would be much more suited in boots than period shoes. He has spent a couple years in the cavalry...that is why I was leaning towards 1/2 chaps or spats (preferably leather).

It doesn't have to be 100% HA but needs to be "period looking" as I am on cast.

Might be a tad late, but depending on "how" small the toe box was you could have kept the SCA boots, and stretched them. The leather is pretty light weight (I have the Sir Henry) so this should be much easier than on say a western boot.  To stretch them simply use a pair of boot stretchers (like this: http://www.amazon.com/FootFitter-Premium-Professional-Western-Stretcher/dp/B000POJGO2). Just a thought.
