What would you all reccommend as a good shoe for a fairy? This will be my first time dressing up in a more fantasy garb, and I'm stuck on the shoes. >.< Haha
Thanks in advance for any help~ ^^
Oh... Shiny!

FrogPrincezz

Love this style shoe, I have two pair that I've been wearing for about 7 years both @ faire and in the world.  I think they're the next best thing to being bare foot.

You would need to add a new sole or coat the bottoms with something, but if you don't need much support, these are wonderful!

I wear sandals as long as it's warm enough.  I have some roman style ones that I picked up at wallyworld years ago.
Got faerie dust?

Casche

I'll third Medieval Moccasins, have had mine for years and love them  :)

Or, for a cheaper option, http://www.natashascafe.com/html/shoes.html.  I wear these with my nobles, and after putting in an insert just because I injured the arches of my foot several years ago (long story), they are super comfortable all day long.  Cheap and comfortable, can't get much better than that  ;D  They also have sales every once in a while, so if ya like 'em, sign up for their mailing list!

I have medieval moccassins as well. I highly recommend inserts. Sometimes my feet still hurt afterwards...

I would also recommend Son of Sandlar. They have some boots that could be used for it http://www.myspace.com/sonofsandlar

Walmart sells a brand... I want to say Dream shoes? they look pretty "natural" some are kind of similar to these

which I picked up from ROSS dress for less, (which was actually not a good idea... they said they were 9's but... they may not have been.. my future BIL was nice enough to use his knife to cut the heels out and make them mules.) They looked cute though!

If you will be on your feet for long periods and want the most comfortable shoes you've ever worn in your life, then renmail Lady Nicolette on this forum.  She is part of Heart & Soles, where Keith makes the most wonderful shoes.

They are so well made and feel like your feet are surrounded by marshmellows.  And besides the incredible functionality, they are beautiful.

I have so many foot problems in real life, I actually walk with a limp.  Their shoes are the only shoes I can wear to faire, spend the day walking around, and not be a total cripple  by the end of the night.

As long as Keith keeps making shoes, these are the ones I'm going to buy.

I have a pair of ghillies and a pair of two button boots from Olde Soles/Native Earth.  www.nativearth.net  They are super comfy.  They also have sandals that come in all sorts of colors.

From a costuming standpoint though I think it depends on what "kind" of fairy you are.  And what the rest of your garb is like.  You could find a comfy pair of mary janes and add flowers or ribbons to the strap.  If you're an earthy fairy you could get away with a heavier shoe...if you're more ethereal, then I'd stick to something like a sandal or something with less bulk.

Delireus

I know they're kind of jestery, but the ever fashionable Marc Jacobs has these for his 2010 collection. I have no idea how much they cost.

Sorry :P I was reading The Fashion Police blog and I saw those and thought of it. Hah, but no, I recommend medieval moccasins as well. The most beautiful fairy I ever say was at my first time at TRF and she had them, so I guess I'm bias.

What I use to do for fairy garb was use a pair of plain black slouchy suede boots and tie ribbons and flowers on them, but I'm partial to boots. I also have a pair of grayish tan ones I use now.

I almost forgot, I saw these a while ago and I love them. You need to go look at their gallery to really see just how many ways you can tie them. I would love a pair for mundane wear but I think they might work with a fairy garb too, because you can use any ribbon technically. I really hate things between my toes, and you've no idea how that's restricted my summerwear shoes :( so I love these. They are a bit pricey sadly, but maybe someday!

I have to agree with Casche, irish, and FrogPrincezz. Medieval Moccasins are great.

medieval moccasins are my favorite brand of shoe ever...if you decide to go with this style shoe I would seriously suggest you get medieval moccasins, even if they do cost a bit more than some you might find else where. My roommate had a pair of "knock offs" and they fell apart within a year. I've had one of my pairs of medieval moccasins for 6 years and have never had an issue with them, they are still as comfy and sturdy as ever. they have lots of fun colors and metallics too which are great for fae! Plus Twig the Fairy wears medieval moccasins, usually the boot height ones. they can easily be worn with tights, socks, stockings etc. and have no issue fitting a variety of sizes. If you have any "foot issues" that make buying shoes difficult for you in the mundane world, mundane solutions work for these shoes too. Insoles, orthotics, heel cups, etc all fit and work quite well in them as well.

needless to say I love these shoes more than one probably should.
Things are shaping up to be...
Pretty. Odd.
