If anyone is interested there is going to be a steampunk weekend at Greenfield VIllage/Henry Ford Museum (in Michigan) Memorial Day weekend.  They are looking for volunteers and I guess it's going to be a three day thing with a masque Saturday night.

Memorial Day weekend next year, or Labor Day weekend this weekend?

Memorial Day weekend next year.  They are having a Steam Punk Expo at Hyatt Dearborn/Greenfield Village. I posted about it earlier.  There is no official page yet, but their is a myspace.  I understand that its being put on by the same people who do Youmacon so I would expect to be well done.

Sounds like there's lots going on up there in Michigan!  I wouldn't mind making the trip up there next year for your Faire, although this SteamPunk weekend sounds like just too much fun!!!  Have to look into the logistics of it all in the next few months...  :)

Money, for one... and traveling companions would be nice, also!  LOL  But MiRF sounds absolutely lovely, and I do plan to eventually see it!  I've been checking out the photo threads the last couple of weeks, and there's definitely magic in the air!!!

Need a place to stay while I'm there, also... hint, hint...  ;)  :D

Found this too cool not to post: Steampunk X-Men! http://community.livejournal.com/steamfashion/2027265.html

And I had a question: who is going in fancier outfits and who is going in rougher looking outfits at the TRF Steampunk Invasion? I was thinking of going fancier, but I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb by wearing opera-length gloves and such.

Sealion, did you receive my PM?

Selkie, I plan on wearing a safari-type suit.  I was planning on dressing fancy but the other outfit called to me.  I'll save the fancier outfit for Chicago.  Wear what you want to wear.  Part of the fun is dressing up and showing off our finery and also seeing what other people are wearing so we can blatantly steal their ideas!

Worked on my black Chicago (fingers, toes crossed) skirt last night.  The body is complete, hemmed and has venise lace trim pinned on, which I'll stitch tonight.  After that all that's left is the waistband.  The fabric is so luxe that I may have to look for a nicer blouse than the white cotton one I was planning to wear.  I'm waiting for the corset to come in so I see what it looks like all together.

I got my bustle I ordered and re-worked one of my period skirts - slit up the front, pulled back, I'll be sure and get pictures for all to see after the event on the Queen Mary in Long Beach (PyrateDaze.com). I also found a great old hat, the kind with the black netting that goes across the face, made some cool feather hat pin for it and a friend gave me some clock gears which I fixed up and attached to the other side of the hat.
I also have chains going across the front where the skirt is pulled back. I plan on wearing some nifty black lace panties and boots or black shoes.

I give the X-Gentlemen a score of Freakin Plaid!  Now my mind just keeps jumping from one group to another thinking how I would SteamPunk them up.  Steampunk A-Team...
I hope my life is an epic tale that ends well and everyone likes to read. --Grovdin Dokk

I wonder if there's a Steampunk version of "Gilligan's Island", or maybe "The Partridge Family"?   ;D
