If you have a CLC card...

Good luck with that.  I've been using this company since 2007 and have always been able to work things out with them fairly and effectively... Until today.  They over charged me for my stay in Maryland and I called them about it to get this sorted.  Completely stonewalled me and were rude to boot.  Did they over charge me by a lot?  No.  30 bucks.  (The hotel charged 62.50; CLC is trying to charge me in the neighborhood of 70.)  It's the principle of the matter.  SO, I've canceled my corporate card.

So, a word to the wise, when making your reservations via the CLC card, be sure to check the 'view details' button under the price ranges, b/c even though you see that the hotel is only charging you a certain amount, that doesn't mean that CLC isn't charging you more.
I don't know what you've heard, none of it is factual, but it's all true.

CLC's administrative fee went from $4.95 to $7.95 (approx, don't remember exact amount) about three months ago. That's a per day charge, not a per stay charge.

Auryn

what is CLC??

I don't blame you LadyDracolich , Id be furious and would be writing a steamed letter to their management. I've done it before and it always proved to be an effective means of getting problems solved with other companies.

I got an email last week stating they were reducing it back to 4.95.  Will wait and see.  I haven't gotten my bills from Rendevous weekend yet.

Ahh, good to hear, Quiet One. I'll keep an eye out for that letter, hadn't seen it yet.

Auryn, CLC is an organization that works with companies to make unreserved (left over) hotel rooms available to corporate employees at a reduced rate. Anyone who has a small business is qualified for an account with CLC. Read all about it at the CLC CheckInn Direct page.

Well, it doesn't matter to me what they do now.  They absolutely refused to talk to me about the bill or make an effort to help me understand where all the charges are.  I no longer have any use for them.  That's all we need in this recession, another pariah.

OK, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be with you, Lady D, on this one and no longer use/recommend CLC. I had better luck getting answers than you did but I don't like the answers I got.

Here's the scoop:

CLC now charges their clients as follows:

QuoteLowest Published Rates on hotel Web sites and other public sources that do not require advance purchases, pre-payment or organizational membership. Lowest Published Rates are updated once a week. Hotels may change their Lowest Published Rates more frequently.

In other words, it doesn't matter what you get quoted when you call. You'll be charged whatever CLC says the day rates are on the date(s) that you stay. And it doesn't matter what the receipt from the hotel says, you'll be charged what's on the CLC website for that date. On top of that, CLC will add their (now returned to) $4.95 fee for handling the billing.

It is no longer possible to use CLC for advance planning and have a reasonable expectation that you will get the rate at which you thought you were booking the room. About their only use to me anymore will be for last minute check of their website for best rates if I don't have a reservation. Even then, I'll probably walk in to the hotel, ask for that rate, and pay myself rather than using the CLC card.

I've got a call back request with a supervisor to see if there's something I'm missing in the translation. I'll let you all know if they ever call.
