Pete Seeger wrote this song, and a lot of people have performed it.  But Peter, Paul, and Mary made it their own.  It was always the sweetest, saddest, and most powerful when they sang it.

A second icon from my youth has gone today.

A piece of my childhood is gone now....been listening to them since the very beginning (as Lady Nicolette knows from some of our conversations on the "listening" thread).  Have had the pleasure of seeing them live a number of times, got to introduce our girls to their music live....

My mom used to listen to them. As a child of the '60s, I can't help but think that the music shaped my views and who I am today.

I was pretty saddened when I heard about it this morning. Although I'm not the biggest folk fan, I was pretty much raised on Peter, Paul, and Mary/Mommy.
