Hearsay about Song's and the Realm's of Kings

Hope my title got your attention and forgive me if this is out of place, but you all seem in the know.
Gearing up for faire again has got me thinking about the rumours I hear and the names I keep seeing dropped on the forums, but I am not a member of a clan and am not in the know and frankly, not that good at collecting info by going over the backlogs on the forums...so that being said I have two questions to ask and hope your collective need to read every new topic and your experience can solve my queries.

Question the first. What is Sherwood, when where and who? I have seen talk of it and it's relation to the trepidation of the fiasco that was Songwood. Leading to...

Question the second. Songwood. I had heard tale a while back of this faire. I had also hear of the partners who ventured into it. One a rennie, the other a business man. Not sure if that was the accurate measure of the men involved. What happened to the plans for the original faire and what of the new faire the other partner is planning by the same name? I had heard there was a botch. For that matter, what is King's Realm, the one proposed for the old site? Did he have to abandon the construction he had for the old site in favour of the new site.


If  you are all friends with the people involved and the whole ordeal left a bad taste in your mouth or can't answer out of respect, cause from my digging it seems to have sullied some people and I know the Songwood guy says he won't speak of the old site anymore, I understand. I am just woefully curious. Also my apologies about not posting this outside of a TRF forum. This is the board I frequent the most and have come to respec the pool of knowledge. I would just have hated to started outside of names I recognize.

Sherwood is a new faire out 290 by Giddings. Sherwood has great promise and is having a gathering this weekend open to rennies. You can find out more under south faires - Sherwood. It has nothing to do with Songwood/Kings Realm which as far as I know is a lost cause.

I thought Songwood was about a million years ago? Do you mean the 'New' Excalibur?


Anyway, Sherwood is the new 'austin area' (though really it's about halfway between Austin and Houston) faire just outside of Elgin.

We'll be there this weekend for work and blessing the newly erected stone circle.

Of course, the Sherwood forum...Derh. I know Sherwood has nothing to do with King Realm or Songwood, was just curious about it since I found a post about the development of Sherwood. In regards to Songwood, I believe one of the partners kept the name and is making another go at it, not sure about 'New' Excalibur. I asked about King's Realm because I thought that's what was to be built on the old site, but the website still had that name for sell. I had friends who helped with site making for Songwood, so it caught my attention that I should ask. Was just curious what happened a million years ago to make it fall through and if there was any info on this next try he is taking a crack at.

Ouch . . . I am going to ask anyone wishing to provide information regarding Songwood and/or King's Realm to please do so through private messaging.  There were many conflicting stories about the people and actions involved with these proposed faires and many hurt feelings resulted.

Duly noted Sir...That is the message I was wondering when I was going to get it, jsut fromthe general air about the subject. I think I have all that I need to know and am sure I can ask at faire time from folks in person. I appreciate all the help and your time.
