Thanks for the links for gloves guys.  :)

I'm looking for fingerless gloves that go all the way to the elbow, like these.

I'll probably buy those but I'd like a pair that look a little stronger and fancier. I like the fabric used on the other wrist-length gloves.

*sigh* I always want my cake and eat it too.

Now that it's Halloween I would check out costume stores.  I even saw a pair at Kroger (grocery) this morning, though they had spider webs on them!  As far as fingerless, all you need are scissors! ;)

Natasha, that's a great idea!  This is hardly the same thing, but yesterday at Walgreen's I saw a pair of stretchy magic gloves with glow-in-the-dark skeleton hands in grippy paint on them.  *Want!*  (I wear grippy magic gloves to drive in the winter, but at least for now I've talked myself out of them).

Art, are these the ones you like better?

Would it be possible to *make* some?  Maybe you can find a meshy fabric like that somewhere.  I don't know; it's probably more trouble than it's worth.

Maybe there's something you can work with here:

Dumb question:  Did you do a Google search for "elbow-length fingerless gloves?"  I found a lot of hits that way.

You could just cut the fingers off and stitch the edges to make them not ravel...

Just an update on my Faerie costume- the green chemise, and my wing frames...

The parts at the bottom are the 'sepals' of the rose that will hang over the petal skirt...

The wings are just from two wire hangers- I want basic dragonfly wings, so I think this works- and at some point, I can simply double them using another pair of hangers...

Thoughts?

Oh, you temptress!  Can't you put all the parts together so we can see it as a whole?!  I'm loving the chemise--what's that fabric?

LadyShadow

That is starting to look extremely lovely.  Cant wait to see a finished project.

Gem- I made a SERIOUS score on that fabric- was up at Golden D'or in Dallas (huge garment district bargain barn) and I found a bolt of MOSS GREEN SHAWLS for something like $4 a yard! They are essentially ladies shawl panels on a bolt, separated by fringe. A PAIN to sew, but the PERFECT effect!

Ooh! Ooh! I thought it was familiar! I was lusting over that (as well as pretty much the rest of the stock) at Golden D'or a few weekends ago when I went down to visit the bf.... He lives literally five minutes away.  That is soo evil.  That's totally my new favorite store  ;D

Still have to make sleeves, an attifet, and do the hem.  Trim will be added at the end, and a raven mask was commissioned to complete the look.
