Anyone know of a cute scavengar type hunt for a 7 year old and a 8 year old, boy and girl.  My daughter (the 8 yr old) loves faire.   It's my nephew's first time going.  I just thought it might be fun for them to have something extra to do.  I thought of buying them cheap digital cameras and use those to show what they found.  I really don't want to walk around with 2 bored young kids lol.  Any ideas would be appreciated!

For younger ones I would pick like a certain goblin.  Or maybe the King.  Something you know you will see but might have to look around for.  The really obscure things I would save until they were older.

Maybe even putting a games name or a stage's name and see if they would notice it to take a pic of it.

Best of luck.
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

Maybe you could have them find all the members of a certain court. Point them out at the opening festivities when they are all together and have them find them throughout faire. Have fun!

Try garb accessories - find a pretty hat, a cool sword, a red fan - things like that. Or an ABC's or Colors hunt - find things or signs that start with each letter of the alphabet, or find things that are certain colors - we play those on long drives LOL, but we are older than 7 and easily amused!

You could also get them each a program at the entrance and whomever gets pictures of the most things from the program wins
(Shops, performers and all)

*or who can get the most pics of someone drinking rum... well... maybe not... little to young on that one*

Also keep in mind that the faire has contests for each of the themed weekends.  And usually the games are geared toward kids.  They had a scavenger hunt last year for closing weekend that kept the kids in our group quite busy all day.  Check the site to see what the contests are and keep an ear out during opening ceremonies for more details.

Thank you everyone!  Wonderful ideas  ;D I'll see what kind of contests and games are geared for the weekend, and I'll probably take a little of everyone's ideas to try out.

The weekends with Scavenger-hunt type contests are:

Weekend 2, 1001 Dreams - Fantasy Scavenger Hunt
Weekend 3, Pirate Adventure - Treasure Hunt
Weekend 6, Highland Fling - Great Sheep Hunt
Weekend 8, Celtic Christmas - Christmas Scavenger Hunt
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

We have done this a few times for friends (adults and teens) and had the best weekend!  It adds a whole new level of fun to have people hunting for specific characters, shops, items during the day :)

Things from our lists that may apply to smaller children (and can have pictures):

find the king (or queen)
find an magician (we had something about doing card tricks)
character from star wars (or other inappropriate)
find a gnome

Most of the things we had were activities to do:

- conquer your kin at king of the log
- hug a barbarian (obviously one mom/dad knows)
- play with a fairy
- attend <appropriate show here> and interact with the performers

Maybe this will help with ideas :)
