Linen and "stretching"?

Okay, I've been on enough of a hiatus. I just can't stay away anymore!

Anyway, I'm back to sewing garb and I'm finally going to work with linen. I ordered some from fabrics-store.com and am waiting for it to arrive.

My question is... well, I've read about people leaving their garb hanging up for a while to stretch out before they hem it... I've had little luck finding where exactly I read that, but I've gathered that linen has a tendency to stretch a bit anyway... but, is it just on bias seams? If I'm constructing the skirt of my gown out of rectangles, do I need to worry about it stretching a lot?

I ordered my fabric Friday and need everything done by Sunday the 11th haha, so I don't know how long I'll be able to let things hang out before I need to throw it all on and get going. So, what should I do, or should I not worry about it? Would it be best if I just temporarily hemmed things, and then let them hang once I got home, and hem them properly later once they'd stretched as much as they were going to?

Thanks for any tips... here's hoping I'm not being TOO foolish haha.

On some websites I read, you let the linen hang for one day.

But don't feel bad, I start projects the last minute...all the time
