On Wednesday I performed at the opening gala of an exhibit of chopines and baroque high heels at the Bata Shoe Museum here in Toronto. It was basically my job to stand around and look at exhibits while wearing my new yellow kirtle.

Reading the paper today, I found out that I actually got snapped by a society photographer!

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/on-a-pedestal/article1371627/ (it's picture number 4. It's a flash site so I can't link directly)

I was the only performer to get their picture in the actual hard copy newspaper. They liked MY costume better than the rented professionally made costumes,  than the ones with the chopines (the ridiculously tall platforms that were the point of the exhibit) AND EVEN BETTER THAN THE ACROBATS AND AERIALISTS HANGING FROM THE CEILING!!!!

I'm so proud of me!

Huzzah!! Fame does a person proud.

Back in May of 2006, our local newspaper did an article on me with the Mary, Queen of Scots gown I recreated from a portrait. The article focused on the Historical Masqurade I was set to compete in at the National Level in Des Moines, Iowa at Costume Con. I have the plate the article was written on as well as the article itself.

It's a great shot with those matching yellow shoes in the case next to your lovely yellow gown and the beautiful art hanging behind you.  Makes for some scene out of a movie or something...  Congrats!
