Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

Here's a cool Statue from the Mardi Gras Museum in New Orleans I would love to tour sometime for cool costume ideas. The same maker of this statue has many outside and inside Harrah's in Las Vegas

Either way, Lord Paulette, your new Fop ensemble is going to look dynamite.

Lord Paulet, those colors are just too fabulous!
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

You gals didn't get a Mardi Gras thing, eh? Hm....  :-[  Maybe it's a regional thing, then.

Like 'Pop' for 'Soda' or something.

I also thought of the 'Joker' outfit, like GilChris.

I do have to say I like the idea of the Shocking Lime with a bright Agean Blue, though. That would make a visual splash.... maybe that's a 'next project' kind of thing?

Merry Fop-I mean SHOPPING for silks!  :D

Have you tried eBay? There are several really good priced Taffetas there, and Thai Silks is another one to check out

I love Purple so you had me at that!  Really good Dupioni will have less slubs and a nice hand so look for that as well!

See, now that is just all kinds of awesome. Why can't we dress like that every day?

flidais

Check out the legs on that statue.  Dang!
Great colors..purple and green are fabulous together.  I have to agree with Katie though on adding the white.  I didn't come up with the Mardi Gras thing until it was mentioned.  But I do love the idea of the purple just popping out ontop of the white.
As far as those biased strips go... are they lined?  I guess I'd have to look at the picture better.  But I know that the gown the Queen at Bristol has, has something similar.  And I belive they are red on one side and purple on the other.  Hers might twist instead of just pull together.  Now I'm rambleing.  But what if you made them with purple on one side and the green on the other.  On top of white.  With like a gold fillagree bead in the center instead of the pearl.  Sorry, just had a mini brain dump of ideas.  lol

The Bristol Queen's sleeves...Very cool by the way that would work well for a Fop ensemble.

Ooh those sleeves are pretty!

If I ever get around to doing a motley costume, I'm totally doing the sleeves like that.

I was going through some things last evening and came across some harlequin lame, in multi colors and I just this past fall/winter acquired a jester hat.  Guess what I'm going to make?!!

i do love the combo, and i agree, perhaps it's a regional reference!  Keep up the nice idea!

Oh, and I just ADORE those sleeves, i dont know if i would have the patience, perhaps a winter project??

With the Purple, White, and green idea you said green in the slops and on the sleeves.  Did you mean the actual underlining on the slops green or the peekabo diamonds green?

Katie Bookwench

The green would be the underlining of the slops - The purple pinched stripes, (with white behind) as the decorated strips, I think would set off the purple better -- and highlight the green as a 'pop' color.

The purple and green in more equal amounts may mean that neither color really gets noticed, just the very busy combo of the two colors together. It may make an excellent combo, but both of those silks are equisite -- they should both be noticed.

Let us all know what you decide to do -and don't forget the pictures!!  - I'm sure it'll be suitably FABULOUS!   ;D
