The Pink Pirate has been wanting a pink do-rag to wear with his garb.  We tried buying one but so far the only pink one's I have found were pink camo, which is NOT going to work.   This means I got to make one.   ::)

Does any body have/know of a good do rag pattern?  or do I need to just buy a cheap one and cut it up for one?
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

???  Isn't it just a square of fabric; essentially a bandana? (I think they're about 20-24" square, if that helps.) Have they changed since I was a dude-rag wearing teen (as we called 'em, back in the day)?

Some people call them skull caps or head wraps . They are easier to tie than a normal bandana. They are worn by motorcyclists to keep hair out of their eyes, and to catch sweat.

McCalls 3193 ( see at http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=43767619)  It's a kids pattern, but the kids large fits adults just fine.  I think McCalls has retired this pattern, but I bought a new one at JoAnn's just a few months ago -- so they're probably still around.

A "real" biker ties their own from a bandana  ;D

I still have my hair short.  Can't get used to it growing over my ears!  I don't keep it skin-tight on the sides anymore, but cropped short.  Heck, my beard is longer than my hair!

Try looking in the scrubs section of the pattern books. I think the more of the skull cap style might be in there I know they have been popular since Greys Anatomy got going,

Found it -- McCalls didn't retire the pattern ... they just changed the number.  Check it out at http://mccallpattern.mccall.com/m6099-products-10910.php?page_id=96&search_control=display&list=search, McCalls 6099.  It's a boy's pattern, but the LG and XL both fit adults just fine.

You can see the "do-rag" I made using the pattern (thanks to *Teach* for the photo) at
