The hubby and I are thinking about going to TRF this year but with not a lot of money to play with I don't know if we'll be able to swing it. However, if we find an affordable (and by that I mean really cheap) place to stay it would make things much easier. Anyone have any suggestions??

Trillium

Camp!  TRF has a campground, I believe it is $20 for the weekend.  It's lots of fun and you don't have to worry about drinking too much!  Can't get cheeper than that unless you stay with a friend!
Got faerie dust?

I don't have ANY camping stuff (it's not really my thing)....

There are two motels in Magnolia.  The Magnolia Inn and Executive Inn.  These are the closest to the faire.  Otherwise you'll be heading to Tomball or Conroe areas.  There are LaQuintas, Hampton Inns, etc in these towns.

Trillium is right tho!  Camping is the best way to go!  I know you said camping isn't your thing but this isn't your average camping experience lol.  Try it out!  ;D

Some of us even bring extra camp stuffs - All ya gotta bring is yourself and beddings.  The faire inside is one experience, spending time in camp with your fellow rennies is a whole other experience (o:

Camping MAY be an option if we can figure out a way to go without the kids (they are 15, 6 and 9 months) otherwise I will checkout The Magnolia Inn and Executive Inn.

15 and 6 doable - 9 months however would be difficult.  Ours was 18 months when we finally took her camping at TRF.  Fortunately, we have a lot of great people in our group who helped to watch out for her - and still do (Shes going on 4 now).  She has lots of awesome "aunts" and "uncles" who help to keep her reined in.

BTW, I have a certain rock to transfer to her to hold until Sherwood Forest next year. My Son will be bringing my utility golf cart back to Houston in a couple of weeks. Hopefully, the magic rock makes the trip.

My grandson just passed 2 years old and my granddaughter is now 4 months old. That's just from my youngest daughter. From my oldest, I have 6 grandkids and one grand-child. Yeh, us 60 year old pharts love our offspring. They go home at night.

I agree that it may be more challenging with the wee one, especially if you are there on one of the colder weekends.  But the older kids would have a blast!  Glow Sticks and Smores would be all the 6 yro would need to stay entertained lol.

We'll be out for the 6/12 gathering Mike.  You can hand it off in person if you like.  I know she'd love it.  She would call out every time you drove your cart back.  You were pretty popular (o:
