Since TRF has its own climate that is set to oscillate every five minutes, I wanted to get veteran faire parents' opinions on what would be the best period clothing for a 6 month old. She'll likely be carried via sling for a lot of it, offroading war-stroller of doom for the rest (seriously, we took the sucker into hilly hiking trails, it rocks), so she will have some outer layers covering her. Thoughts?

Ear infections are always a concern.  So get her some sort of bonnet and maybe some cute little furry ear muffs to wear during the colder days.  :)

I will post more if I can think of anything else... it's been a while for me lol  :)

When mine were that young we just always kept them at home with a babysitter.  Sorry couldnt be of more help.  Best of luck.  And cant wait to see the cutie in her garb.

Check the Garb & Faire sections. There are verious topics about Kids clothing.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

We did Scarby when the little pirate was 7 mos (Memorial weekend) and I put him in a tank style onesie, and a bandana on his head...slathered in sunscreen....

I took him to TRF at 1yr. (his bday is opening weekend). The main thing to remember is to have something to cover ears with, and take something warm and waterproof regardless. I was all set to have mine wear his kilt opening weekend and it turned out cold and rainy...I would however, in your case, put your little one in a linen "tunic" style gown. That way you can add things under to keep warm or leave just the diaper under it if it is a hot day...Hope it helps.

I don't recall taking ours to faire until she was over a year old.  I believe we took that first faire season off.

But even at 18 months, we went with the KISS philosophy.  It seemed it would be too cumbersome to have to deal with a garbed infant.  We mainly stuck to onesies.  We did find a little skirt that matched my tan utilikilt.  But other than that, with the heat of TRF, it was best to keep the clothing simple.  I recall letting her sleep in her stroller in only a diaper on one particularly hot weekend.

And invest in the crystal light or generic version, water flavor things.  It will help keep the youngin hydrated.  Though at that young age, mine drank unflavored water without any problems.

Thats my two cents (o:

We took our boy at 6 months and had no problems.  For a girl, I would think a simple cotton chemise and a little something for her head would be perfect, and of course some shoes if she'll keep them on.  My boy liked to get out and check things out every once in a while.  Just be prepared with some tights and a blanket if she needs them!
Got faerie dust?

Modern white onsie for comfort, and lightweight solid colored cotton dresses on top for the hot weeks.

At that age, it's hard to stay too period.  When it got cold, they wore footed pjs :)

you'll probably be our first stop after the forge when we get there, so be prepared for babification :D
