You are riding the dc metro with your beloved, loaded up with luggage on the way to your hotel after 9 hours of travel- exhausted and feeling bleeh, when suddenly you hear some random stranger say "huzzaahhh" in conversation with the person they are with, and you and your beloved look at each other excitedly and suddenly you don't feel so tired anymore.
And then of course you spend the rest of the metro ride talking about garb for next season.

But did you talk to the person that said "huzzaahhh"?!

You have an entire long Memorial weekend to pack for but you are only worried about making sure that your Ren garb is all ready to go for the one day you'll spend at Faire!  Oh, and you can't take yourself away from the forums to pack everything else!  =)

"Do not call for your mother.  Who is it that you think let the demons in to eat you up?"

~your 3 year old is at your sister's house and she isn't behaving. Nothing your sister is trying is working. Then you say "Kailee if you don't sit still and listen to Aunt Charlene and Uncle Jimmy I'll have the Pirates come and kidnapp you!"  . . . . . . . And it works. . . .

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww! That's cute! I remember when my youngest daughter did that. All the time. Couldn't get her to sit still, so when we got her to sit down to eat (on rare occasions) she'd fall asleep.

You know you're a true rennie if you find yourself getting increasingly irritated at people who don't know the difference between a SATYR  and a CENTAUR. Seriously danes this is simple Greek mythology....they taught it to you in school........I found more children between the ages of 5 and 15 that knew what they were than I did grown adults.. Or when you find yourself thinking your coworkers are stupid for not knowing the simple ins and outs of faire life... Maybe it's just me but listening to some of these danes really gets under my skin.

Those pesky danes.... they may be great, but they aren't so smart. ;)

Please explain to someone who has never seen, never read the Potter.

Centaurs play a major roll in most of the Harry Potter books.  They first show up in Book 1 saving Harry in the Forbidden Forest.  They even participate in the final battle in Book 7.  I am not surprised that children 5-15 know what a centaur is due to the popularity of the Harry Potter series for that age group.

You read through 60 pages of this thread in one sitting

There's really no difference between your dane clothes and garb

As you read through this, you're staring at the clock because you also have to get to hobby lobby to start working on favors, as well as look at fabric for a new tunic

LadyStitch

... you contemplate bringing a friend from the other side of the world just to spend 2-3 weekends at faire with you.  Said friend, though never going to a ren faire before, already has custom garb.

... you are on your way home from the air port after being in airports for 24+ hours and actually have to stop and think about weather to make the right to take you back home, or the left to take you to the final day of faire for 3 hours.

...  you see an amazing new stilts design made by friends of yours, and the first thought you have is NOT, "That would cool in a movie. " but is "How cool would that be to wear as part of garb for a faire!"  ;D
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.
