Amanda, that's GORGEOUS!!   Tell us more about it!  Pattern, fabrics, that beautiful hat!

Thanks Gem!  You loving the hat makes me laugh!  In a good way, that is...  It is just a fedora from Target that I bought on clearance fully intending to cover it in velvet but decided that I liked the patern on it (even if it isn't H/A.)  So I added some of my trim from Cheeptrims (then folded it down a bit so it looked better,) added two pale yellow ostrich plumes that AuntieGiggles found for me at The Hobby Lobby in Fargo as well as two wine fancy curled feathers that I found at Michaels and three small yellow and wine combo feathers that Giggles also found for me.  Then I figured that I needed something else to finish it off so I added a silver and rhinestone brooch that I found laying around.  =)
As for the gown itself I didn't use a pattern- I don't know how to do that!  I went to Mill End Textiles and found the wine (jacquard?) and yellow (brocade?) fabrics.  I liked how they looked together and on me and I had coupons for 60% off!  That is 7 yards of fabric for around $20!  =)  I went online to Cheeptrims and found some cheap trim that I loved and they arrived just in time for me to throw this together (minus the shoulder rolls and hanging sleeves) in two days for a play that I attended in garb.  I finished the sleeves and added a bit more trim for the Chippewa Falls Faire.  The underskirt is just some fabric that I had leftover from the gown I made last year.
I'll add more pictures as soon as I get some taken.  =)

Kate, that's gorgeous!  How did you make it?

Well, I doctored a straw hat as well...  If you find a decent straw in the right size, shape, and colour, there's nothing wrong with using it as a base.  I looked long and hard before giving in and making the thing!

And thank you.

I do love the ruffle on yours - an idea I will no doubt steal somewhere down the line!   ;D

TokiBloodaxes's ensemble is finished. My fingers, from all the hand sewing, are RAW. But I am not complaining.

The Shirt. I use the Nobleman's Shirt/Chemise pattern from Alter Years. I do decorative stitching to give shirts the Noble finish.

The Original Idea for the Doublet from Toki Bloodaxe

I varied the pattern just a tad to make it all work. I made the picadils more curvy to better apply the piping. The slanted pieces of the Doublet Front, Back, Sleeves, etc., were drafted on Shopping bag paper after I had cut out the underlinings and constrast fabric. Measuring the pattern just so, I made slashes for the pieces and made sure I added 5/8" seam allowance for the applied piping.  The Contrast gold trim I bought from JoAnn's. The buttons, clasps,  and Trim come from www.pillagedvillage.com

Toki's idea for the paned slops...

I used the Margo Anderson Pattern to see how it compared to the Fantasy Fashions pattern I normall use. I perfer the FF pattern by far. I added 6 belt loops. All the pearling on the panes was done by one of my Apprentices.

The King James I styled Hat. I just happened to have plumes in the colors of the ensemble to tie it all in. The Brooch was froma  sale at Younkers in Dubuque back in 2009 that Lady Renee buchannan found for me. Thanks Renee!!!

The patern I used was the Elizabethan Tall Hat pattern from Lynn McMasters. I added 1 1/4" to the outer perimiter of the Hat Brim to add more width for that slight upturned appearance so preveleant in this style of hat.  It only took one layer of the super heavy duty buckram that costs a small fortune, plenty of millinery wire, and Single Fold wide bias tape to cover the wire. From stgart to finish, the hat took 5 1/2 hours.

The Complete ensemble. There are 45 claps, dozens of buttons and pearls, over 25 yeards of piping, 10 yards of contrast trim. Toki Bloodaxe will be wearing an Original design no one else will have at this year's Colorado Renaissance Festival.

Enjoy

Rest assured, Genievea, Kate and I do get SOME ZZZZZs ;D When no one is looking!!  :D

This ensemble, with an additional shirt took 65 hours. Complete ensembles average 55 to 60 hours, depending on embellishments asked for. A chunk of change in the beginning, but so worth it.

Thank you guys!!!

This is one knockout set of slops/doublet. I'll admit I was sorely tempted by the red embroidered fabric you used to line the slops.

Thank you Dona!!  The contrast fabric is called Belvedere that can be found at Hancock Fabrics as well as online.

It is a lovely contrast fabric that I have used 4 times now for others garb.
