Wow, Hoowil, I don't understand why some people would say anything like that. I've had it happen to me, as well. First, the compliment, then the cruel comment after it.
I bet that person didn't know how to make anything, either.

What in the world is wrong with some people??? Seriously?

Hmm, project list for the year?
hat I can't believe it, but I actually got snarked about this one. I have a large head, and it is difficult to get hats to fit proper. I've made a couple testers, but haven't got a final one finished enough to wear. This weekend I had somebody ask if I had done my wagon (see below) and the family's garb. When I said yes, he said "then make yourself a hat" and walked away.

I am amazed that anyone would have the gall to make such a comment. It does make me wonder if they knew how to make anything at all. Kudos to you for keeping your cool.

My daughter informed me that her Boyfriend will need some simple garb for this MNRF season as well as her good friend's husband. Nothing fancy. A step above peasant, but not Noble class.

Then! My 13 year old granddaughter wants a gown, more in the Cavalier style in reds and blacks. She liked my Cavalier hat I made, so I am going to make her one in a  smaller size. Nothing too girly, but feminine all the same.

Looks like summer is going to be busy as I am looking to add two more vendors who are interested in working with me. Don't worry! I will be making time for Ren Festing!!

Since the Pink pirate went over so well it is on to the other projects.

Pink Pirate:
-Make a nice favor sash for his belt

M'Lord Tristan Flamingo
-New Doublet
-New Shirt
-New Hat!

Lady Stitch
-New Coat
-New Blouse with Embroidery
-New Patchwork skirt
-New Top hat with Sewing 'Things' on it.

Then add all the theater work I have to do.  Some where in there I get to have some fun for myself.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

Yes, I am planning on making the Curly piece from Wheat because I have no earthly idea as to what it is on her head!!!

I am not making the silly extra on the gown I never have liked late period 1580's to 1600's because of the exaggerated waistline and the  Wheel of death, I just don't think anyone looks good with it.  But this gown will be on hold probably until next year...Heavy Sigh, because of the injury I just don't know what is going to be, and how my arm will react .....

Serious sympathies, Cilean.  And  gentle ((((((Hugs)))))) with a cyber-rub of camomile to help it heal.

- Patchwork 25 yard skirt (About halfway done cutting out the patches and sewing the rows - next up: Sew them all together!)

Not Ren-Related

I love Firefly!

- Star Trek TOS Female Skant Uniform (Sciene - blue!)
- Dr. Jennifer Keller/Female Medical officer - Stargate Atlantis Uniform

CapnFaye That is awesome! I first looked at the picture and thought "what is this a picture of?" But then I read it - Kaylee Frye's green coveralls - it is perfect! I love the teddy bear patch. I don't remember that, is that your own touch?

I see someone is going to "Can't Stop the Serenity"!

Great job!

I love Firefly, and Kaylee is a wonderful character.  I have to say that while that gown was awesomely perfect for the part it played, I personally find it hideous!  Did you know that the hooped petticoat she had under it was the one worn by Deborah Kerr in The King and I?   A petticoat with style and history!  ;D

CapnFaye - Oooooooooooh SHINY!!!!!!!  ;D
I'm not fat, it's just that a skinny body couldn't hold ALL THIS PERSONALITY! ;)

I just can't get myself to sew.  Ahhhh!!!  It's really kinda frustrating.  I know that alot of you have talked about running into a wall from time to time.  How do you get past it?  I can't even make up my mind about what I want for garb this year.  I'm sure that would be a good start huh?

At the beginning of the year I had my heart set on doing 16th century woman.  I had it all figured out who I wanted to recreate.  But money is an issue this year so then I figured I just needed to fix up, and in some casses, re-do garb I already have.  But I am trying to lose weight, and since my husband will be gone most the faire season, wearing nobles isn't sounding like a good idea (most of the garb I have now is upper class/noble).

So then I got thinking about what kind of garb would be easy to get into myself, easy to drive in and be something different.  Lower Class, Middle Eastern, Medieval and some Italian styles...come to mind.  If I could just figure out how to make all my noble bodices front opening and adjustable...I'd be all set.

Thanks for letting me clear my creative mind.  It's been a jumbled mess in there.

Non-Ren:
http://www.pindelski.org/Blog/Manet%20-%20A%20Bar%20at%20the%20Folies-Bergere.jpg -I love this dress, and have picked up a pattern that may work for it. THough, any suggestions would be lovely! I'm in the drafting process right now.

-1780's gown

Ren:
Two Bodices
Petticoat
Chemise

I have the patterns for all of my ren stuff, but I would LOVE suggestions for my two non-Renaissance pieces...I haven't really done much work outside of Ren, (one Regency gown, but they aren't terribly hard) so I'm kinda fumbling along on how I'm going to do all of this.

A friend of mine who does tudor upper class costuming has her bodices hooked down the front as well as laced in back.  Probably not for someone who wears their clothes really snug but otherwise it works very well and is practically undetectable.
You can't go wrong just 'wenching' it.  It's cool, easy to clean and easy to dress. You just need a chemise/bodice and skirt, kerchief, muffin hat or a snood.  You probably have some, if not all of the pieces already.
What doesn't kill me-had better run.
