The green silk stays are GORGEOUS.

Thank you.  I need to just finish sewing the seam allowances down on the inside, and then wear them a few times to get used to them before the event.  I need to see how well they do for a whole day of wearing...

Mistress Kathleen

Lady Isabelle I love your colors!  I just am finishing a dress in the same colors  and would love to know where you got the trims... Thanks

Got everything at Joann's in march. Had coupons, still spent a small fortune. But its for Kendyl, my daughter. Her first true court down. Her current one is a hand me down, from when I was alot smaller. lol. The large trim is sooo awesome. It's about 7/8 inch of an inch wide. The soild brown is a 1/2 inch wide. They only had 4.55 yards of it. I wanted 8!  I'm hoping to find more.

Laura, FANTASTIC (as always)!!

Love your corded corset; does it have the curved-front seaming, too?

CenturiesSewing

Silverstah, that is going to turn out lovely and I covet your partlet.  :) Was the black wool twill tape a lucky find or is there a website floating around that sells it?

Yep - the corded corset also has the curved front.  I have NO historical evidence for this - I just know that it gives me the proper shape.

There's no way to get that curved front seam right without draping, is there? Pox. I don't have a fitting buddy (well, Milord, but asking him to spend two hours draping a bodice is probably expecting too much!).

Gem if you have a basic bodice pattern that fits, you can just cut a mock up with very large center front seam allowances. Then just pin fit the front by yourself. It can be a little tricky but I've found using very long pins helps.

Thanks, CS. That's where I was going in my mind...

I just got some new fabric!!!!
I was at Wally-World today, it was an older one, so they still had fabrics, the one closest to my house has everything except fabric.
I was looking through the fabrics, (even though I still have 3 un-finished projects going) and I found this on the remnant rack @ $2.00/yd they had 8 yards, so I bought it all, looks to me like a Doublet, and a Corset.

This last pic is of a satin like material I got for $1.50/yd, but it scares me alot, looks like it will fray a bunch, I am not worried about zig-zag stitches or whatever, I am afraid those threads will keep getting caught in the plate under my needle and foot.

By the way, the satin-y fabric is for the lining.

I use that satiny type fabric for linings.  It frays a lot but I haven't had any problems with it getting caught.  My main problem is that it bleeds when you sweat!  No biggie though because the only place that stains is the back of my chemise which you never see.  And since it is a sturdy cotton I just wash it and the stain, for the most part, comes right out. ;)  It also makes an excellent pouch lining!

Your the best! My mom found some this weekend and picked it up for me. Thank you so much for asking! Did you get some for yourself?
