From the official website of the Renaissance Scots Living History Association website:

"The Renaissance Scots  got started by accident, at the Colorado Renaissance Festival, in 1995. A chance meeting on Opening Day, between two new residents and two college boys, led to frantic work over the next two months. So, on Closing Weekend that August, ten wild Highlanders walked in the Gates. Before the day was out, we had discussed the possibility of keeping something going. Formal Meetings started that September, with seven people getting the ball rolling.

We decided early to set the original goal of being Historical Re-enactors, and keep to the facts as much as possible. This goal has been modified slightly as we are not portraying actual historic figures but rather bringing the flavor (and odor sometimes) of the times through Living History rather than re-enacting it.  The time period we portray is roughly from 1600-1740 in Highland Scotland, before the battle of Culloden."

We are always looking for new members to enhance our ranks- story tellers, artisans, swordsmen/women (and NOT of the Castle Wall variety- we demonstrate full contact fighting, as well as choreographed live steel demo's.) Our next festival date is next weekend at the Colorado Scottish Festival, http://www.scottishgames.org/ . It would be great to have a many of you as possible come out and join us. Please check out our website at www.renscots.org, and look us up and befriend us on FaceBook!

And did I mention... we're always looking for new, dedicated members?

Just thought I would mention, since your group's time-span covers the Golden Age of Piracy, you might be interested in attending BrethrenCon 2010 - Colorado's first, best, and only pirate convention! (www.brethrencon.com)

Hey, you did a shameless plug, so I get to, right?    ;)

Seriously though, it's pretty much right up your alley, and you could even use it to try and recruit new members.  Think about it!

Well clearly we'll be having more fun at BrethrenCon, so I'd say your choice is clear ;D

But seriously, if you guys can't make it I totally understand.  Bummer though.

Man, I tell ya, if it were any other weekend or I weren't obligated to work the Edgewater festival, we'd be there! Take tons of pictures!

With a rather wee and squealy bairn to entertain, we'll probably be opting for the Edgewater festival . . . .this year at least! So I will look forward to meeting the RenScots, likely on Sunday morning!

We look forward to seeing you, and anyone else who goes! I'm really excited for this festival- it's a first year fest, and the organizers of those always make it a point to go all out. They're fun.
