I needed lining mateirla for a doublet so I broke down and went to the fabric store.I found some cotton for the lining, but they had some off-white cotton canvas marked down to remnant pricing so I bought what was left on the bolt.

Oh, very nice, Dona C!

I stopped by Hancock's yesterday to update my address with them so I would start receiving their sales flyers, and I found cotton gauze on the clearance rack for $2.50 per yd, so I bought enough red to make my renlet the pirate chemise she's been asking for, and enough white to make a new chemise for myself that I will dye some color or another.  I also found medium size clasp closures (for new cloaks) half off, for $1.90 each!

I knew all of you would appreciate this. I'm  doing these gothic-ish dresses for my upcoming show.  They have to be snow white.  When I budgeted the whole project I was expecting to pay 200-250 for the 4 dresses I was making.
After spending 20 minutes trying to find a bolt of good quality white satin fabric with at least 9 yards on it, I found a nice silk shantung. I finally got to the cutting counter with my bolt of white cotton, chiffon (for the shoulder drapes), and the shantung.
Wouldn't you know it at the 5 yard mark there was a stain about 6 inches wide.  I was heart broken, but the pink pirate asked "could you cut around it?"   Each dress needs 2.25 yards, the stain was at the 5 yard mark. I could make it work if I got an extra 18 inches or so.   Turns out there was 11 yard on the bolt.  Since it was stained, and I was willing to take the whole bolt.  They gave it to me for 50% off, not just the section that was bad, the whole thing!  That is $100 worth of fabric for $50!  I was doing a happy dance.  Skip ahead to the register. Alot of my co workers get the Joann's ad, and just give them to me.  As long as the bar codes are different they system will take them.  Long story short EVERYTHING but 3 2 buck zippers I got for 40-50% off.  Original bill before coupons $260, after $140.  I was bouncing happy for the rest of the night. Add in that I got the shoes, gloves, and other accessories for 20% off and free shipping from another site (value of $50 off original prices).  I was quite the happy camper.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

Yeahhhh Lady Stich. Good for you. I love when things work out like that.

I have no shame when it comes to coupon clipping. Though it was funny when I walked up to the cutting counter and the girl said "Oh it's you again.  What are you making now? and how many coupons do you have?"  ;D

I just organzied my fabric stash. Everything is now in one place. Now that it's not spread all over my room, I surprised myself by not having very much stuff at all. And most of it is even for a specific purpose.

I did find, however, that I have a bad habit of hanging on to the little scraps that are left after cutting. We're talking pieces that are smaller than my hand. Those all went in the trash.

Oh well. Time to get new stuff!

LadyStitch

I knew I had too many scraps when I could start sorting them by color family. I had to go to my tutors level of 'scrapness'.

"If you can't make a collar out of it, it is trash."

If it is between the size of my hand and that, it goes in the donate to the quilters bag.  Our little ladies at church love my little bits. :)

I do that a lot and do not realize at first that I am throwing them into the scrap bag.  Thankfully after every sewing project I go and clean out my scrap bag.
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

I need to do that.. I have a tote of scraps and various othe hiding places for scraps. I have a pack rat problem

Though I was able to use the small ones when my dog desided to eat one of my quilts and took a chunk the size of a serving platter out of the middle and other annoying small spots. The funny thing is that I like the patches better than the original quilt
