I love the "nearly impossible to reach" part  ;D  Too bad no pics of the view.

For June 30, we are going back to Wales. Parts of the original structure date back to 1108,
but it has been extensively renovated over the years.

Puivert
The stark beauty of this ruin draws many visitors to the region. Locally known as Château de Puivert, the castle lies near the village with the same name, west of the town of Quillan in the Languedoc-Roussillion.
In 1210 the castle was taken after a 3-day siege by the army of Simon de Montfort controlled by Pons de Bruyères.

In the "Ireland of the Welcomes - May/June 2005" magazine, there's an article that has some pictures of Castle Salem.

the featured castle today is Balvaird
Balvaird Castle was built in 1500 by Sir Andrew Murray. He had acquired the land as part of the dowry that came with his wife Margaret Barclay. Some evidence indicates it was built over an earlier Barclay castle.

Haverfordwest was probably a strong stone castle by 1220. It is first mentioned by Giraldus Cambrensis as one of the places he visited in 1188 with Archbishop Baldwin.
