Ditto for me, Nighthawk. Lady Renee, I wish everyone was as caring of others as you. It would sure make this world a better place.

Thanks, guys.  It may sound like a bunch of hooey, but to me it's not.  I try to live my life this way, as a phrase I heard while away on a church weekend:  "Yours may be the only face of Christ someone ever sees.  You may be the only Bible someone ever reads."

What goes around, comes around.  I have no doubt in my mind that someone would do the same for me if I ever was in that position.  And we had a blast doing it!    ;D

That's quite profound; thanks for sharing that.

When you have a dear friend who had three surgeries this year and missed every faire in the area, so you round up a bunch of friends and bring the faire to her. We didn't tell them what we were doing, so it was a total surprise for them.

Five of us dressed in garb and drove almost 3 hours each way to go to her house.  Another friend met us there.  We brought finger foods and soup (but not in a bread bowl), plus a huge array of CDs from the artists at faire.

Their last name is MacQueen, so the guys wore their kilts, and the 3 gals wore regular Renaissance garb.  We lined up around the front door, and my husband Steve rang the bell.  When Max, my friend, answered the door, we yelled in unison, "Hail to the Mac Queen.  Hip hip huzzah!"

She was blown away.  Her husband was so shocked.  So we all piled inside, made her a throne in her dining room & covered it with brocade.  She wasn't feeling up to putting on her garb, but she did go into her closet and wear her hat.

We stayed about 5 hours, eating and laughing, playing the CDs and singing along, then packed up everything & left it for them to enjoy and drove back home.  Max said she will remember this day for the rest of her life.

And yet, some of our friends who aren't rennies, can't understand why we would drive all that way, just to eat with someone.  And bring them a faire, forget it, they'll never understand!

That has nothing to do with Rennies.  That has to do with love and friendship!  Huzzah for you and your friends!!!

Thanks to everyone for their kind words.  I didn't mention it to make me into sainthood!  Heavens, I'm way too far away from even the idea of sainthood!  I think St. Paul would faint dead away if he even saw me at the gates!   ::)

I know in the "real world," there are always people around who bring food to friends in need, stop at the grocery store to pick up things for them, drive them to doctor's and other appointments, etc.  But really, only Rennies would think to bring a Ren Faire to someone, and that's why I posted it!     ;D

When your first date with your wife of 10 years was to Faire, and you still wear the coin you had struck there, and it's getting so worn you can hardly make out the design...

metalcelt

When you meet your future girlfriend at Faire and the next year propose to her! After posting that you are engaged on Facebook you are asked "Are you going to get married at the Faire?"

Tipsy Gypsy

For at least 2 months out of the year, everything in your fest...er, guest room falls into two categories- garb, and "other"

The honey do list is never touched but some how all the faire favors are done in time for faire each year.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

You wear your faire bloomers to work under your skirt.  Nobody but you knows you have them on, but it was the middle of the week, and too much time between faires, so at least you have something of garb on.

You play in an outdoor fall volleyball league and need to dress warm for the game, the first thing you grab are your stockings and bloomers you wear to faire.

For Halloween at work everyone dresses up and you get really excited to pull out your garb to wear.  Who says a corset and farthingale aren't practical pieces of clothing in the mundane work world?

Heck yes! In my case, Halloween is the one day I refuse to wear a kilt, just because that would reinforce the misconception that it's a costume.

You are at the costume store getting some accessories for your 80's costume (sadly, I already had most of what I needed) and get into a discussion with the checker: Him: "I'm going to be a pirate if I can find a good coat."  Me:  "Dang, I'm a pirate half the year already, I'm doing something else.  However, I have about 6 coats at home..."
I'm not fat, it's just that a skinny body couldn't hold ALL THIS PERSONALITY! ;)

My easy go-to costume from last Halloween was a pirate. But now I'm a pirate every day at work. There was no way I was going to be a pirate this year...
