I am just curious. I am mostly Irish, wonder if thats one reason I lean more towards Celtic styles.

The first noble ensemble I made was Italian - and I chose it specifically because I have heritage from that country.  Sadly, I've only worn it once to faire because it's a PAIN to get into, and I've lost so much weight that the under-corset no longer fits.  And it's not quite proper to have a noble Italian woman wandering about on her own!

Uhm, I don't although I've thought about it. But fellow historical dress maker Eva Andersson mostly do Swedish/Nordic garbs, as she is Swedish. She also does German, which often correspond with what was worn in Scandinavia. You can see some of her dresses here:

I would say that my hubby and I try to dress according to our heritage as we both can trace our trees back to Irish ancestry. Hubby and munchkins wear Black Watch kilts which would be more Scottish. Going by some pictures of what they think the Irish wore in the 16th century my hubby perfers the kilt.

David and I portray actual historical ancestors in his family whenever possible,  For the 14th century we do Robert Davidson and Lady (he was a provost of the city of Aberdeen and killed in the battle of Harlow)
The newest incarnation is a Tudor couple-Lord William Davison and his wife Catherine Spelman Davison.  William Davison was a secretary of Elizabeth I and a friend of Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester.
His claim to fame was that his was the hand that delivered the order of execution for Mary Queen of Scots, to the Privy Council.

My first and favorite garb is very similar to photos my Oma, or grandmother, had in her house of her and her parents and their parents...we are what you would call "Rom" or Romanian (though the two are not mutually exclusive of one another).

In fact, one of my patchwork skirts is the skirt they wore in the picture. From what I understand it has been passed down four plus generations (so over 200 years) I ONLY wear it on special occasions and have only worn it once to a faire. I'm scared to ruin it, though if its made it this long, I doubt I can do a darn thing to it. I even have the jewelry that has been passed down for at least the past 300 years. It isn't much to look at, but it is genuine.

They certainly did not wear the corset I wear...lol.

Well I am from Bergamo in Italy.
My bf and I decided that this upcoming season (our faire is in Feb) we would go at least one weekend as H/A (or at least as close as we can without losing our minds) with garb from that area of Italy, especially since it would be different since most people go for the more english or french garb.
The season after that we are going to strive for something German as that is his ancestry.

I am nearly equal parts Scottish, Irish, German and Swedish, and I wear a Scottish kilt. Heather of Scotland tartan, as I have no clue which clan I would fall in.

Should you wish to find out:

http://www.electricscotland.com/webclans/septs.htm

Bit of trivia: Lowland Clans did not have Septs, which were dependant families or family affiliations created by intermarriage or for protection from other clans (for example; Clan Davidson is in turn affiliated with Clan Chatton, etc.) thus, if you cannot find your name in the Highland families, you may be from the border  ^_^

Lady Kett

I go for wench casual. Sort of like business casual, but with a Faire theme!

I would love to have some historic Norwegian garb because my ancestry is 100% Norwegian. My husband is mostly all Geeman so I wouldn't mind some garb for that too. As of yet I have none of that. : (

Being a Mexican, Italian,  Croation blend, I picked English Elizabethan Nobility. That look works better for my body type, which is broad and muscular.

Aye! Me mum was a faun and me dad was a satyr. Same with me grandparents on both sides!

But at any rate... If I were to have a court job other than Seelie, it would be with the German or Scottish court. I find it's a very interesting experience walking as close as possible in the shoes of our ancestors.
Hey, why not?
