Operafan - I love that blue dress! I've been wanting to do something in that color ever since you posted it awhile ago!

I, too, check out the after-christmas sales on tablecloths, and have managed to find great deals on the long tablecloths. I think I haven't paid more than $5 for a tablecloth, and my favorite dress is made from two, tomato-colored, heavy cotton tablecloths from Target (one round, one long). $6 total!!!!!

That is such a steal and such a lovely dress! Love the colour and the front lacing of the bodice.

As for the Peacock dress and the apron, here's a sneak preview...

I cut the apron a tad, but added a cotton lace trim. The underskirt isn't new per se, but I added a tuck to the hem, as seen in Florentine skirts of the mid 16th century. The hem of the blue skirt has a snipped edge, and it also has interlining stiffening the hem. That's also a period thing. Now I just need to make that darn partlet... Still zero inspiration.  :(

I never thought of using tablecloths but that is a fantastic idea!  Now, I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for good deals on stuff like that!  Thanks!

A friend who sews amazing noble gowns shared this idea with me last year! I recently bought some Autumn Inspirations tablecloths from Joann's for half off--$24 for enough for a new noble gown :)
Sometimes you can't wait for the storm to pass; you have to just get out there and dance in the rain.

Not ren-wear, but I finished my son's Dr. Horrible costume! I used his doublet pattern to get the approximate shoulder width, neckline, and arm scythes, but other than that, I didn't use a pattern.

I love this thread!  Gives me motivation to hurry up and finish projects I'm working on  ;D  Here's a purse I just finished making.  I had borrowed a similar one a while back and I loved it so I finally decided to make my own :)

Okay...haven't started on the Court Gown yet, but here is a little something to tide ya over ;)  Late last night I remembered that today was 50's day at The Dirt Fairy's school...so I had to whip up a poodle skirt!  lol ;)  Not Renaissance, but still not bad for it being late at night and only having about an hour to make it!  lol ;)
