Need Hat Advice

Lady Renee Buchanan

My husband bought me this hat, & I love it!

However, I need advise, so I am going to the experts on faire - all of you!

I know it's not historically accurate, but I don't know what I can wear it with.  So here's the pictures of the hat, followed by pictures of some garb I'd like to wear it with, but I need your advice to see if it would go with these or if it is so far off, I'd be embarrassing myself.

Those of you who know me, know I am computer challenged, so if these pictures are too big, you know that I have no idea how to make them smaller, even if I follow the directions, it still doesn't work for me.   ???

Of course, my hunter's orange sweatshirt (no, I don't hunt) makes the outfit!

I think it will go with my pirate stuff:

But what about my Buchanan?:

Thanks for your input!    ;D

I think it will look awesome with your pirate garb but I'm not quite sure about it with the Buchanan... but then again, that's just me. You'll look beautiful, no matter what you wear.
Still Meggers, just a little more grown up now. :)

Id say all the above, its a pretty hat!

You could add some yellow feathers for your Buchanan

I've managed to make pretty much all of my hats go with all of my garb, one way or another.  ;D

Obviously it will be *perfect* with your pirate stuff, and I think it will go fine with Buchanan View 2, as well. The red Irish gown... I think it will work with the dress, but I'm not sure about the Buchanan underskirt. Do you have a black one?

What does your new Moresca bodice look like? Any chance of creating a new ensemble from those two pieces?

Lady Renee Buchanan

Thank you for the advice.  You are all very sweet to help me.

For the red Irish gown, I can turn the Buchanan part around because 3 sides are black, just the front part is the tartan, but I don't know if it would show from the back bottom.  If it does, I can wear a plain black skirt.  I already have one but don't know if it will be long enough underneath the red gown, but I can make one that will be long enough.

I have a yellow feather, so it wouldn't be hard to slide it in with the red one.  The new Moresca that I received on Friday is wine/green with some pink (but not neon pink), so the hat wouldn't go at all.

I am not one of these organized, color-coordinated people, though I wish I were.  If I see something that I like, I tend to buy it, not giving advance thought as to what it will go with. So I end up having something that will only go with 1 outfit, rather than a variety of different things.  My thoughts when I buy something are, "Well, I can always make something to go with it."  And as most of you know, I have sewn 2 things in my adult life, both within the past year, so my "to do" list is very large, even though my sewing experience is very limited!   :D

Yep, it is. I have it, too, and I love wearing it with my pirate garb. I like the feather pin you have on it, by the way!

I just looked at the inside of the hat, & it is made by Elope.  It came complete that way with the lace, feathers, & pin.

Cool, mine didn't come with the feather pin - just the ribbons and lace. Though I have since bought feathers for it, of course.

LOVE the hat!!! It does look as if it would go wonderfully with pirate garb.  And it looks good with the buchanan as well (though I see it as more "pirate")

I did some photo editing and superimposed the hat headshots over the gowns from a similar angle....and they all look great with the hat! I agree that I personally would also add a yellow plume or two to go with the Buchanan tartan.
