Sir Martin

The TRF Performance Company was, as usual, on top of their game for the 2010 season.  The weather was great and the cast at our grand faire showcased historical, as well as fantasy roles for record crowds.  As diverse as they are talented, the performers who push themselves to new levels of excellence keep the magic going at TRF.  You all put on a fantastic show!

With that in mind, could someone from the Performance Company please update us with the winners of:  Best New Character, Best Returning Character, Character of the Year, and the Philip Hafer Memorial (MVP) Award?  Were there any other awards presented, and who won them?

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you again for the 2011 season.

I am so sorry I've not posted.  Last week was not good (husband's grandfather's funeral), this past weekend was filled to the brim with commitments and I've been working non-stop since yesterday morning.  I PROMISE I will get them up before the end of the week.  Thank you all for your patience.

Finally, I am getting around to posting the performance company awards. These are awards given at the end of the season as opposed to the daily Performer of the Day awards.

Best New Character, Best Returning Character, and Character of the Year are all voted on by members of the performance company and any other TRF performing act or participant who wishes to have a voice.

The Philip Hafer Memorial Award (AKA:  MVP) is decided by Jeff Baldwin and goes to the individual who went above and beyond anything that was ever required of them and was invaluable to the production of the season and show.  This person can be a member of production committee, a stage performer, a member of the performance company, or anyone who was just there and contributed selflessly.  I myself have won twice and it is an honor.

Group of the year is decided by Jeff Baldwin and is awarded to the most outstanding performance company group based on many factors.

First off, and I know she's been chomping at the bit for me to get this announced, Best New Character, Niki Marshall as Grandmama Vigorica Bassaraba of the Transylvanians.

Niki was one of the true outstanding performers who auditioned for us this year and she all but created her role with her audition as a nose picking hunchback.  She took that, ran with it and created a seriously entertaining and fantastic character this year.  I personally loved being a mortal target for her weekly plans for taking over New Market Village and learning how, each week, she planned to shuffle me off this mortal coil.  Huzzah to Niki!

Next up we have Best Returning Character:  Mali McCunn as Bryn MacCune.  Bryn is, well, special.  After taking a year off last year to work in Alaska, Mali thankfully returned to our ranks this year bringing back the much loved Bryn of the Barbarian Horde.  We were so lucky to have her back with us as she is a total go getter performer, and a joy to work with.  Congratulations Mali!

Our Character of the Year went to Nyl Stewart as Fynn von Schlect, Rockstar wannabe.  I first worked with Nyl in 2000 when he was only 9 years old.  But don't let his age fool you.  He is a true TRF veteran having been a member of the performance company at that tender young age, and being the son of Dan Stewart, a veteran performer himself, costumer, and your friendly neighborhood bartender Biff at the Wonky Wally pub.  Nyl's super energy charged performance this season won him Performer of the Day for opening day and the admiration of his fellow Germans, and appreciation of all of his peers.  Congratulations Nyl!

Our outstanding Group of the Year went to the Germans!  PROUST!  They all worked so well together and had such fantastic chemistry.  It really showed through in their performances this year.  I hope you were able to catch them singing together at some point as they were truly a joy to encounter.  Group members consist of (from Top to Bottom) Elyse Rachel, Amanda Pfluger, Leigh Harrison, Jessica Mikolaj, Nyl Stewart, Kelley Pritchard, Alexander Taylor, Jim Rice and Micah Taylor.  Congratulations to you all.  It is a very well deserved award.

And finally, our MVP award.  Melissa McClung is a 17 year TRF veteran.  She has done just about everything one can do at TRF from working a booth, to playing, and I am quoting her here, "ever fricking character under the sun."  She has been acting in the capacity of our Mistress of the Revels these past few years keeping the aspects of our entire show running on schedule, as well as being our themed weekend events coordinator overseeing all of our contests.  You have seen her posts here each week announcing our upcoming themes and the contests being held each weekend.  She is invaluable and no one is more deserving of this award than her.  She is a pro's pro and inspires me to be a better performer.  I tip my hat to her when I say Congratulations Melissa.  Well done.  Well done indeed!

Thank you all so much for your hard work and dedication this year.  As always, it is my privilege to work with each and every one of you.

I'd like to quote something that I posted on Rhianna the Troll's Facebook page back on October 21st, just before Pirate Adventure weekend:

Alright, so I spent the week getting all my little faerie friends rounded up & bribed all the ones that ~weren't~ supposed to be on this "side" to go back to the faery world. I then told the pirates that we have treasure in the village...(evil laugh)... the Borgias can shoot me later! (Glad I am immortal! hahahaha).

That was no lie to the Pirates, you know.  You, and all the rest of the TRF cast _ARE_ the Treasure of the Village!
