So much so that we have to coin our own term.....

RENDEZ-FLU!

Yeah, if you think it was in the air, you were wrong. We were all just "over-affectionate"

My five year old grandson Jake says "Rennies give the best hugs in the world!"...and I agree!
If all is going well, you've obviously overlooked something!

At the risk of sounding elitist (hey, we can brag and boast, right?) as a group...

I believe Rennies are better because they understand concepts and embrace values that most mundanes have no comprehension of.  Honour, valour, respect, dignity, grace and romance... indeed, chivalry... are all alive and kicking in the hearts of Rennies everywhere.

Sure, like in every group, there are bad apples within our ranks, but they are typically easily spotted for they have a hard time fitting in.  It's hard for one who has no respect to fake it and we are a community built on respect.  True, we don't judge... but we do have expectations of one another... and of ourselves.  We hold ourselves to higher standards and treat one another with greater deference.

The best I've heard it said is "there's probably more chivalry at one renaissance faire than there was in the entire renaissance"
well... rennies are the reason for that

Isn't that one of the definitions of a proto-rennie?  The wonderful thing about rennies is that none of us fit in, and yet somehow, that makes us all fit in.  So if you can't fit in Here, you're Really S O L

They are opinionated!  Just see the Faire:  Should it be H/A, fantasy, or a mix? thread for proof.

Well we certainly don't mind dressing in a way that many people today would find peculiar.

I have only been going to faire for a couple of years now. But from the very first day I have met and am still meeting such wonderful people . It is such a happy feeling to know that even if someone does not know you they will still talk and enjoy the day. Thank you to all my friends, old and new and yet to meet.

I was going to say Rennies are different because we were dropped on our heads as infants, but perhaps that's just me.  ;D

joan of arc

Nay, you are not alone. I fell down some stairs as a child. I blame everything on that event.  ;)

I rode my trike down the stairs when I was three. Could that be the cause?

We can express the wonder and excitement of a child! I played Robin Hood when I was little- Peter Pan too! I have loved fantasy all my life!  Dress up and make believe at my age! Tis indeed different!

I was dropped off a second floor porch when I was 2 does that count?

As a kid I was always making and shooting longbow.  Mostly out of bailing stringe and scarp wood around the barn.  Great to still be about to carry a bow around.

I don't know about leaning "left", "right", a little off kilter or swaying three sheets to the wind, but I do know that we believe "to each their own."

...at the very least Rennie may have a wider range of experience than someone who only goes to work, home and church.

I tried that too! It didn't have any adverse effect on me...on me...on me...on me...
