Went on our vacation to London! Went out to the TORM (The Original Reenactor's Market) in Warwickshire.  Found the perfect fabric for the husbands Jerkin for the Renewal in Cloth of Silver!!!

And this luscious vision for later for a new set of Coif, Sleeves and of course Forepart!!

I also picked up a lavender silk for a new PoB!!!

SQUEE!

The traders gallery gives you names of the traders so maybe you can track them down individually for something you want.

It was very expensive a double gulper!!  The Cloth of Silver was $40.00 per meter and the Silver and Cerise was $24.00 per!  The place was Chateliane Fabrics, and they also had a guy who was selling linen...it probably was a good bargain in England, but it was 7.00 pounds, and that would mean about $10.50, but I can get the same linen for $4.00 per yard, I only picked up what I can't find in the US.

I am hoping to get some more of the Cloth of Silver for the Hubby for just in case cutting issues. But for now? I am very happy with my choices!

You came all the way to LONDON and you didn't let me know? WHY NOT???  I'd have come up for the day and we could have had fun!  I'm only an hour away...

I bet the linen chap was Anwar Ali:  very charming Asian gent, with a tongue that could sell ice to Eskimos!  Not the cheapest for linen, but it is good stuff, and his Viking weave wools ate The Bizz.  I've had several very good bargains from him over the years.

I can find linen for £4 a meter here, and for us that IS a bargain.  You pay a LOT less tax on stuff like this than we do.  VAT is 20%.

I am so sorry I mentioned it in several threads but I should have sent you a private message because I would have loved to have met you while we were there!! We have a gent here in San Jose, CA who owns Fabrics r Us and I can get good linen for 2.50 GBR, which is $4.00 without the VAT  (20% What is with that???) and I know people were picking up the linen at TORM, he had some lovely colors and such, so I don't take that from him but since I can get it cheaper in the States, I thought it best to pick up things that I could not get here!

We are planning Australia for next year, so 2013 when the Textiles from the V&A are supposedly to have a new home we are thinking of making the trip!

You will think the UK CHEAP when you see the prices on Oz!  And the prints they did for the V&A are lovely.

A friend was recently home on NZ for a month and brought me back some NZ quilt fabrics, which are lovely.

I am actually sending down with us care packages of fabrics for people!  I am going to head to SCA events in Sydney and Melbourne, so we can share them out, I know it is way expensive down there so I thought we of the Clothier's Guild in the West Kingdom could give up some yardage for the cause.

So I am hoping to have enough to give the current King/Queen and various Lord/Ladies down under!
