Procrastinating. Need a kick in the bumroll! UPDATE!

I have two--count them, TWO--eyelets left to do on my purple kirtle. It's been three weeks (granted, for five of those days I was in Jamaica, and the kirtle was not), and I just can't bring myself to do them! After I do them, I have to try the bodice on, because I can't test fit the skirt properly until I know the bodice fits. I need to do them TODAY, because I want Milord to do the first lacing-in/fitting, not the ladies at the sewing studio, who will be helping me figure out what I want to do with the skirt. And the studio group meets Monday night. I am running out of ways to stall during studio.

So, my fellow free-needle seamstresses, give me the nudge I need!!!

Michael will be on cast this year, he will portray the shoemaker.  I can't even START on his garb until my plans and fabric are approved; and the first meeting to discuss that is Tues (I've gotta miss it, but I've sent my questions to the garb mistress.)  Look for him this year!

UPDATE

Eyelets finished, we tried a fitting. With a chemise, even. And it's AWESOME! The fit is divine, Milord immediately got the hang of the spiral lacing, and the gap at the lacing edges looks just fine (I deliberately made it smaller since I typically lose weight over the summer). I was worried about that gap, but it actually looks rather fetching.  No pictures, as a chemise mishap and some overexuberant ELMing made it all verge on R-rated, but I promise they are coming soon.

Now I just need to figure out what kind of pleats I want in the skirt.  Whimper.

I discovered this past Fall that when men hear spiral lacing their eyes glaze over. But if you say double helix, you can see the little light bulb flash on.

Thanks, all!    I am packing up for my sewing studio tonight. My dress form has been trussed into the bodice (she was not nearly as helpful with the lacing as I was with Milord yesterday!) and I have sewn up the back seam of the skirt.

I still have NO idea what kind of pleats I want. I've done mockups with both cartridge and knife and didn't really like either of them. But we'll know for sure in about 4 hours, I guess! I do know that the skirt isn't long enough for extra underpinnings (which mystifies me, as I have made this exact same skirt to wear over a farthingale AND bumroll), so at least the hem length will be easy to figure out.

Ok, I can't understand why I'm having such a hard time getting my sewing mojo going again. 
All that is left is on the PP's new doublet is to un pick the center front and insert the new front placket (When I made the adjustments to the pattern I didn't realize that the pattern called for a 1-1.5 inch gap in the front.)  I have the lining cut out and I just need to cut out one strip of  fabric for the placket.  Then add the buttons, and hand stitch the lining into place.  It really isn't alot left to do, but I just can't seem to make myself sit down and do it. I even have it sitting one the dinning room table, that only has the sewing machine, the doublet, and the fabric sitting on it.

I still have a dress to make for a wedding due in 4 weeks, and I have a sleeveless maternity top I need to make because most of the loaned items I have are getting too small.    I need to get those two projects done before I start production my next show, which is memorial day!   Help!

Ok, do we need to remind you that you're pregnant? Is it possible you've reached one of the Exhaustion stages of that experience? Maybe you should cut yourself a little slack!!

But I hear you--I have to fix the waist seam on the kirtle and have zero motivation to do that (in my case it's fear; I'm not 100% sure how it's going to work). I desperately wanted to have it done--FINISHED--and displayed on my dress form when my in-laws visited this week, but we spent every single day last week at the vets' office, and this week I'm scrambling to do the house cleaning. Ugh!  When I have time to do something, I'm stitching instead of sewing.

have you ever tried to tell a little work horse to stop working when they see work to be done?  You won't belive how hard it is to make myself sit still on the couch for 15 minutes to rest.  I had to set a timer to make sure I didn't get too early. LOL

I might get a little more done tonight because the 2 loads of personal laundry, and the 3 loads of theater laundry I needed to run & fold, are now complete. Sitting down to sew for 15-30 minutes feels a little more possible tonight.  Then again, we shall see since I fell asleep soon as my head hit the pillow last night.    Poor PP looked over mid conversation I was out like a light!
