Tentennano
Locally known as Rocca di Tentennano.
The Rocca di Tentennano sits on a rocky crag upon the medieval suburb of Rocca D'Orcia in the Val D'Orcia, province of Siena.

Estables
Estables Castle belonged to the Senorio de Molina and so, because its position near the Dukedom of Medinaceli, it was the witness of numerous battles between these two political rivals.

Some of these are just breathtaking.  Makes me want to visit the chateau-like ones, and paint the ruins...Wonder if anyone needs a book-cover painted...

Roxburgh
dates back to about 1107. James II of Scotland died at Roxburgh.
After many wars, today the walls lie in ruins in Kelso, Scotland.

What amazes me is how many have stood the test of time. Certainly no structure I've ever lived in--and most structures built today, whether large or small--would still be standing centuries later. And it's not like these lords had the resources of pharaohs. Think of all the work/time spent creating those thick, high walls. Simply amazing.

This one would be really interesting to tour.
Don't forget to smell the roses, but watch out for the thorns!

I wish I could find the photos from my visit to England. I have some shots of myself standing on the parapets of Dover Castle... ~sigh~  I do miss that country...heck, I miss all of Europe.

The only castle I have seen I don't have many pictures of. My ex has them along withthe video I took. They were of Bebenhausen Abbey which they call an abbey or monestary, but might as well have been a castle as it was walled, had towers and the monks knew how to fight and protect it.

The other is just up the road at Tübingen. I have never found a great picture of the castle on line at Tübingen. It sits on the hill over looking the Neckar River. It has since been updated to house part of the Tübingen University. The crew that found Troya was from Tübingen and they have some artifacts house there.

If interested just do a search of Tübingen Castle and you will find some photo's of it.

The last was Wertheim http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wertheim_am_Main I didn't get to see the castle up close as we made just a quick stop there after finishing up some business withthe company I worked for. The lower town wall is mostly gone, but I have 1 picture of a very high tower of the lower town wall that is still standing. It looks as if it would fall over at any time.

Alarcón
(or Altas Torres Castle)
The original fortifications were probably built around 784 and continuously enlarged and
rebuilt during various phases of the Reconquista
