I've decided to attempt flatling my my McCall's 4107 bodice pattern. As I sat here pining the peplum to the outer portion--BEFORE flatling--I realized this will not work with an unfinished bottom edge. Should I A) flatline THEN bind bottom edge THEN add the peplum, or B) hem the bottom and attach the peplum THEN flatline? Appreciate any suggestions!

Flatlining is the process of adding an additional layer to your fabric and then treating those two fabrics *as one.* So you do each piece individually, before constructing anything.

I didn't bind my McCall 4107 bodice (it doesn't call for it...?), but the Simplicity corset is bound and has tabs, and I do remember finding the process of binding that seam (where the edge of the bodice meets the tabs) *very* confusing. I would find some way to avoid that.

Noted! No, it doesn't call for it, but it's such a pain to turn with the boning in it. Plus, the fabric I'm using is VERY unforgiving and I thought if I used a "flatlining" technique to put the right and wrong sides together it would be easier to manipulate the fabric to my whims! Oh! I just thought of this! What if I sewed the 2 piece,s right sides together, at the bottom with the peplum inside, then just flip them out and bind the rest of the edges?! I think I shall do that! What do you think? Thanks for helping me talk through it, sometimes I just have to work it out, you know?
