DragonWing

I agree with Lady Kathleen, very lovely and very well done Lady Rebecca.

Okay I am now deeming this doublet done. I only have to do the button holes and buttons for the sleeves.

I finished my Simplicity 2172 (the steampunk one) and my daughters 2843 just in time for the World Steam Expo this past weekend:

You guys look so cute! And I love the brocade you chose for the bustier!

amy

Oh I love all these!  Beautiful work.

Here is Sarah's 2011 dress as it was worn this weekend.   It is done only in that it made it to the fairgrounds.  Still needs paned sleeves.  Correction to skirt trim and beading.   But I am very happy with the shape and silhouette.

DonaCatalina

Amy, that turned out beautifully. I can't wait to see pics after you finish the tweaks that you want to do.

Amy, could you adopt me?   ;)

Any "Chuck" fans here?  ;D

This isn't Ren, but it *is* a costume, and it's finished... although I didn't really make any of it. I'm still ridiculously excited to see all the pieces put together! And 8 whole weeks ahead of schedule!  This is what I'll be wearing to Comic-Con in July:

There is one more major piece to go (does anyone remember my question about prosthetic alien heads from a couple of months ago?), but the clothing is totally complete.

amy

Thank you all for the kind compliments.  I'll post as it changes.

Gem,   Darling I adore you too much to adopt you!  You know the second child only gets hand me downs!

Alisoun

OMG, Gem!

I was totally going to be a "Greta" for the costume contest at my job.

FINALLY finished that Peacock dress. It's based on the two surviving Florentine dresses from the 1560's, as well as contemporary portraits. I struggled with the skirt for so long, but I think it's conquered now. Making the sleeves look Florentine rather than Elizabethan also helped a lot...

I've added some pics of the underclothes too, as I always thing that is interesting to see in other people's outfits.

1. Linen chemise, red wool stockings, and red garters.
2. Brown underskirt with stiffened hem, plus mustard saccoccia with black trims.
3. Now even with a partlet! It has a semi high pleated collar, and is tied in front and under the arms.
4. Dressing alone is a NIGHTMARE...
5. Showing off the various layers.

6. Front shot of the dress. Oh, I look jolly....
7. Front/side shot. Didn't improve the jolliness...
8. A photo of the side lacing of the bodice. There's one on each side. It's not viewable from back and front, and it's for the most hidden by the sleeves. It's thought the two-part construction gave name to "a pair of bodies".
9. A back shot of the dress.
10. A sitting picture.

Anea, magnificent, as always!!  Did you tell us what it's made of?

DonaCatalina

Yes that dress is absolutely magnificent. I wish that I had your patience to make things come out so well.

Oh Anea.  that is spectacular.   So subtle... and sublime.

Adriana Rose

The progression of getting dressed is great. And that gown is beautiful!

Wickedvox

That is the FUNNIEST series of pics ever!! What a BEAUTIFUL job you did!!! AND YOU MADE A POCKET! I so badly want to make one for my next out fit (so much classier than a belt with a pouch, though I'm not casting stones--I own one of those too!). Excellent, gorgeous, insert random adjective here--LOVE it!!
