Rapier Half-Wit

I LOVE your tent/s, Rapier... and it's the one I really WANT!  I couldn't remember the brand, though...

How is the set-up, though?  As Scally gets bigger she is able to help more, but generally I'm the one doing most of the work, so I need to be able to set it up in a decent amount of time, without half killing myself getting it done.

The major problem with this tent, though, is that it's Currently Unavailable... and there is no indication of when it might become available again... at least from Amazon.com.  And I haven't been able to find it anywhere else, so far...  :(

Fraser... will you PLEASE tell me what kind of tent you bought?!?  And where...  (see, I'm even asking VERY nicely...)  :P

The tent may or may not still be in production, but I know that I have seen them still on the shelves in various sporting goods stores, Bass Pro, etc, fairly recently.

Bass Pro is the only Columbia outlet here in OK, for some reason... and we only have the one.  It's all the way downtown in OKC, and I'm up in Edmond.

(sigh)  Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and go down there.  I've looked at their website, though, and they don't list it.  They DO, however, have one with the exact same specs, however, it's listed as a Bass Pro trademarked product... so maybe they've paid Columbia for the privilege of putting their name on it, similar to what Eddie Bower and others have done with other products.

My ideal tent, however, is a 20' x 12', 3 room cabin tent.  I'm not at all interested in dome tents any longer, since you can only stand upright in the very middle of them.  I really like the new straight-wall tents.  Canvas isn't really practical for us, either, since I don't have an unlimited amount of cargo space in my mini-van, and I'm not planning on buying a trailer anytime soon.  Couldn't pull anything but the tiniest trailer with my 4 cylinder, anyway.  Instant-set tents look fun, but I worry about the overall construction...

Rani, I recommend Swiss gear I had one of their tents for about 6 year and it held up well...until I didn't take care of it.

I like this tent so much I'm looking at it and my tent is only a few years old.

It looks interesting.  I'm not sure about the smaller back rooms, though.  It says they're only big enough for a twin size air mattress, but I just don't go camping without my queen size anymore, because I want to be comfortable.  I'd rather not use the central room as my bedroom, either.  I'd have to see it set up, and be able to walk through it, though, to understand the full layout, because it wasn't really clear from the photos.  Great price, though!!!  I'll see if I can find something that shows the actual footprint.  Thanks, Jess!  ;)

Wait a minute... didn't you have a trailer last year?

Ahhh... for some reason I thought it was ya'll.  Must have been confused by all the Jello shots, huh?  ::)  LOL  Wish I had something that would actually pull a trailer...

I just ran across this tent, and I kinda like the set-up, and the space provided.  I need to check out more of the reviews, though... but I can get it for about $215 online, although I'm not sure yet how much the shipping would be...

Hmmm... for some reason I was thinking that Rapier's tent had the rigid swinging doors, though... but this tent doesn't have them.

Thanks for the link, David.

Thank you, Fraser...  Have you been outside setting it up and scheming about what will go where since you brought it home?  heheh

WOW!  You can fit 3 queen size air mattresses in there?!?  That must make it just one really big bed, huh?  :o  :D  Nice price, to!  I need to head over to Academy and see what they have right now, since I haven't looked there since early this spring, before they stocked all the tents.  Maybe tomorrow afternoon...

Geez... I have 11 tabs open, all with different tents on them, except this one and my email...  ::)  LOL

Nasty has the Bryce Canyon... it's 10' x 19', where as the II is 9' x 17'.  Plenty of room... no bumping elbows when moving about.  The first year we camped at TRF,we used Nasty's tent and although there was plenty of room, we thought that being Lairds( in good standing), we each needed a pavilion.  ;D  :D

And so you do, Fraser... It's always nice to have space of your own... particularly when it's sleeping space!  And it's much nicer to be able to go in and change without having to kick someone else out, first... ;)  :D

I checked out both of those models online yesterday, and they're both really roomy.  I need to start hittin' some of the sporting goods stores soon, so I can see some of them in person, I guess...
