Aiacha, it was so nice to meet you today.  A thousand thanks for the pattern - your generosity is overwhelming & truly, truly appeciated.
Sveethot!

You're so welcome.  Back when Joanns wasn't limiting you to 10 patterns when they're on sale a friend of mine and I stocked up, so if you need, just ask.

Lady Isabella

Wow old post.......however, I also want this pattern. Do you have any more? Larger size.

Lady Isabella

Found it at debs recycled sewing patterns last night. But thanks for looking! Love this forum!

Does anyone have an idea what kind of dress is worn under the overdress in view C on the front of the envelope? A friend wants garb that looks like view C and I'm kinda stumped on the dress and sleeves. I really need a pattern to sew by since I am still a beginner.
Thanks.

It's a very weird incarnation of a very basic early Italian style. (The bodice, for instance, should be large enough for the wearer's entire chest--not just an odd stripe at the top of the gown.)

Here is a better gown in a similar style.

And here's a similar gown in a period painting:

As I was trolling the web, I saw on one website that the dress worn under the robe on the envelope was available as a separate pattern, but it didn't give the pattern #. My friend just really likes view C and I promised to search "really hard" to find a close match... Next time I'll know not to promise to search "really hard"  ;) and after checking the copyright date on the pattern envelope I will know that if it's more than 1 or 2 years the pattern is most likely OOP and we'll have to find something that's still in print.

the co-ordinating dress pattern is number 9531.  i have found it on ebay in the past.

Thanks Kat!! That's what she wants and I found several are available.

I did make the Simplicity overdress.  I did have to jerry rig the arm scyes, but it sewed up quite easily.

The Reconstructing History pattern, on the other hand, had a vest that had a 36" bust for the overdress that had a 50" bust.  Feh.

Thanks, Aiacha!

Pst... Gem... maybe that is her entire chest.   :o ;D ;)

I do like this gown, though.  So versatile!
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.
