I dont particularly like making mock ups but 9 times out of 10 i am frankensteining patterns
and I have found that my body measurements don't match up to the sizes the big 3 think I should be
so I much rather waste some $1/yard muslin than my $7/yd embroidered cotton or silk.

its especially helpful when I am doing techniques I haven't done before- like the sleeve stay in the poof and the pin tucking on the sleeve on this shirt.

Thanks for the compliments :)
I just finished cutting out the real fabric so hopefully I should have the shirt finished in a couple of days

I buy nice fabric... when it's on clearance, and it's 50% off the red tag price...  ;)  heheh

LOL!  I've got you one up there.  I buy REMNANTS on clearance.  AND, you know the mark them an additional 40-80" off due to the sale on the regular price bolt!  ;D  Seriously, I do that.  Walk away with what totals a few yards of fabric for under $1.  And now, a vendor just moved into our flea market that sells fabric off the bolt!  They've got some lovely velvet super cheap!  Goodness, I think I'll be sewing a lot more in the next few months!  :)

Ooooh... I haz a jealous!!!  :o

Seriously, though... the Hancock's closest to me doesn't ever have anything good in their tiny remnant rolls.  Seldom anything more than 1/2 a yard, and it's almost always some sort of nasty poly/knit something.  Never any of the yummy cottons or linens, and especially never any velvets or upholstery fabrics.  They do sell the bolt ends of upholstery for $4-8 per yard, though, and they occasionally mark those down by 50%, but just a couple of times a year.

Anyone in the Dallas / Fort Worth and surrounding area going to the Steampunk / Wild, Wild West Festival to be held at the Four Winds Festival site in Tyler TX. The Festivals web site event calender list the date as Oct. 9-10 Sunday and Monday. I'm checking with the festival staff on the dates to make sure it's correct.

Unfortunately that is the opening weekend for the Texas Renaissance Festival which is very bad timing.

Those are adorable!!!  But you'd be much better off wearing them to a Con than to Faire... although my cousin wore some similar last year, and she was fine.  Of course, she lives in heels...

So if you decide to get them, I would suggest you get them now, and wear them daily for the next couple of months, everywhere, just so your feet can become accustomed to them on all sorts of ground.

We'd love to but that's Star Wars Days.  If we don't go to SWD we'll probably go to TRF.  Having a child dancing in the Nutcracker seriously limits our weekends starting in October.  Looks like fun though.
