So adorable Lady Fae. The Blue Gown, lovely with the added pearls!!! Everyone has been so busy of late.

The Barbossa Coat for my client, Jason, is now completed. I had my husband take me up to JoAnn's so I could get some corded tape so that I could finish the front. I had scrolled gimp left over so that I could have it run down the front and around the neck, as well as inside the neck. The coat weighs a ton when you factor in 2 layers of fabric, trim, and Metal Buttons.

Now onto Stephanie's coat from an episode of this season's Dr. Who that was on a  Pirate ship. Then a friend of mine wants a Jack Sparrow ensemble by Halloween. His little girl just loves the POTC series. Especially Captain Jack Sparrow.

BEAUTIFUL coat Lady Kathleen!! I can feel the texture oozing from it--very rich! I hope to make a Jack Sparrow jacket for my husband by next Halloween (I'm in nursing school, so it will take me a VERY long time) and an Elizabeth Swann dress for myself (If I have a month off next summer, we'll see). Lovely work everyone!!

Technically not Renaissance as this is 14th Century and probably from France, however I had to post this as I have been working on it forever!

This is a Gothic Fitted Gown with Kirtle in Silk Shot Dupioni in Orange and Violet with Violet Fleur de Lis which I embroidered all over my sleeves, and the gown is Silk Velvet in a Voilet with dagged sleeves in black on black damask.

Cilean, that whole ensemble is made of win. Love love love the purple and orange. (Also I'm kind of partial to the bats (?!) behind you. :D)

My Elizabethan shirt:

This is an adaptation of a shirt held in the collection of the Victoria & Albert museum, London.  The original shirt is made from hand finished panels of fine linen with five different patterns of lace. Mine is a fine cotton calico with Cluny style vintage lace from the 1970's. I made fewer chevrons on the front and sleeves on my adaptation.

The first Justaucorps:

The Justaucorps has pistol-proof pockets!  This is a historically accurate pattern drafted for this coat. A classic 'pirate coat' style from the 1720's... Bucket cuffs, huge pockets, braided edges, gold buttons! The coat is fully lined.  The heavy jacquard is a blend of polyester, viscose, and cotton. The lining is polyester habotai. I used a light weight viscose suiting for the pockets, so they are fully capable of hiding your flintlock duelling pistols! The cuffs, pockets flaps, and the front edge are interfaced with a fusible cotton canvas to support the weight of the heavy gold tinted brass buttons.

I saw it and had to have it, I must admit.  I'll get round to putting the whole dress diary up on LJ some day soon...  My copy is built to be machine washed and withstand LARP wear.  It was much admired at Maelstrom this last weekend.
