I remember in college that people were always swallowing the pop tops from cans when they weren't attached to the cans.  Since I had a car, I ended up driving several people to the ER when they swallowed them.

And it was nothing like today, when doctors give every test, xray, etc. to cover their butts so they won't get sued.  The remedy back then was to give copious quantities of milk of magnesia so that the pop top would work itself out naturally.

  As for the pop top cans, they have many useful purposes. . . . like snakeproofing the yard out here in Indian Territory.
