The idea was to encourage participation,  not to exclude.   She teaches using photographs all the time with her castle of the day thread.  She has talent and eye for use of pictures to tell a story.

Her post above the one under discussion had nothing about it that would motivate any sinister response from anyone.

If the posts above this one are viewed as a lecture or so labeled,  that is another choice to so label it.

There is nothing wrong with loyalty and no blame with misinterpretations.  There is a choice as to each.  

Are all thoughts posted here labeled a lecture ?  If so,  I've been reading alot of lectures in many threads here and didn't know the correct name for thoughts.

Well I'll be the first to apologize for an apparent misunderstanding of posts on this thread. I'm not a visitor/poster on the John's Inn thread, because I "understood" that to be a more adult themed area (understood by the requirement of logging in to see it). As this was an open thread, I thought it to be more "general reader" appropriate.

I rest somewhat easier in knowing that I wasn't the only one who apparently recognized a post that might have crossed the acceptable line, but judging from the apparent "push back", I've been provided a clever example of how to play the "Freedom to...." Card in justification. It may be just me, but the shotgun responses appear to me a pure and simple hijacking of what was a simple thread in the attempt to demonstrate this freedom. Again the title for the thread was Funny Pictures / Interesting Images, and I turned away, neither humored nor interested.

The good thing about this whole incident, is that like posted, we each perceive things based on our socialization, standards, and general upbringing, and as such, we're at liberty to walk away from items/events/people that don't fit our "acceptable" limits.
Admittedly I hold a different set of standards.

They also have Moderators for threads to help keep it "in bounds", so I wish you all the best, and will return to arenas where I'm not as confused about the limits.

A couple of them should be behind the wall of John's Inn only because this thread is public...you don't have to be a member to see it, ergo small children can view it. I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination, but an innuendo such as that posted by Archer has been dealt with more harshly than displaying one of the "Seven Words" that Carlin made famous. A small child would not have thought much of the image, but they certainly could repeat a word the saw on the forum.

Pardon the sermon. Back to fun...PLEASE!

I'm with Warrior Monk completly on this. The push back was in extreme bad taste even without the F word posts. Seemed more a show of bottoms. My opinion of course and of course it's ultimately up to the threads Mod to decide what stay and what goes. As for me I too will take my viewing elsewhere. Back to your fun, Merlin.

I'm not sure what pic everyone is talking about it may have been removed. Can't we all just get along? I'm pretty sure everyone on here jokes with one another and yes these pics. get real close sometimes to crossing the line, but there really hasn't been anything on here as far as I can rememeber that I would deem overtly distasteful or exceeded a pg-13 rating. At any rate, I like all the pics everyone shares. And would like to see everyone posting and discussing these pics. as usual.

I think it's sad that a bunch of adults that go to a festival where people drink alcohol openly en masse, women wander around in poorly worn corsets with everything but their nipples hanging out, jokes are told 24/7 on STAGE IN PUBLIC involving sexual humor, and people beat the he(* out of each other on stage, and people are in here bellyaching about a comic that used the F word. is that a joke?

and please quit saying "the children can see it", if they go to public school, they have seen worse by age 6. if you have a television in your home and dont monitor what they watch every second of every hour, they have seen family guy and south park and seen worse. and finally, if they go to faire with you, they have heard the f bomb. and seen a nipple in a poorly worn corset, and seen poorly hung men in tights that are wayyyyy too tight, heard worse in pirate humor and the like, etc.

so give the kids thing a rest. for once.
