How do you keep your feathers attached to your hat?

I had a pin that I used to use but it broke last season.  I hand picked my feathers and love them.  I am looking for creative ways to keep them attached.  I know if worse comes to worse I can use one of the boutonniere holders from the arts and craft stores but am trying to avoid that!

To keep the plumes in hats that I make, I use 3" Filigree cones I get from Pillaged Village. They are sturdy enough to hold 3 plumes securely. www.pillagedvillage.com

A hat I made for my Granddaughter last year. You can see the large Filigree Aglet cone holding thr plumes in place.

Another view with the Aglet Cone.

I wind mine up with a clear hair tie and use a safety pin through the  tie and then I pin a pretty pin over the ends to hide it on the hat band

You can usually find those bolo ties/aglet ends in the bead section at Hobby Lobby or Michaels.

I agree, Aglets are the way to go.
Filigree ones (I get mine off Brazen Button online) can be sewn to the hat once the feather quills are glued in.  Very pretty, and available in multiple sizes!

If you sew a couple very small elastic loops (maybe 1/4" wide elastic), you can stick the aglet/cone through there instead of pinning the aglet directly onto your hat, and then just cover the loops with a decorative pin/button/flower/whatever. That is pretty much what the costumers do with all of our headware at PaRF so we can take the feathers off quickly when it starts drizzling and still wear our hats. I cant seem to find any close-ups of that side of my head or I'd post one as an example.

Awesome idea!  Love it.

I did find a pendant and wired it to the existing set of feathers.  I am still using the broken pin part of the other broach to hold it on, So think I will use your idea instead of the pin.  Thanks so much.
