Osnaburg?

Hello again! First of all, please remember that I'm a guy, so it may seem strange if I get excited about sewing!

Anyways....

Doing some reference work on my fabrics for my outfit, it turns out my choice for my pants was a good one! I used Osnaburg to make my experimental pair, and they look GREAT! I used the frayed, "raw" edge on the outside seam, sewn with a cross stitch, and the look seems perfect to me. Sort of a "fringed" look. Now, I was reading that some of the Osnaburg that is being sold now (I got mine at Jo Ann's) is lighter, and looser in weave than what they were carrying before (Turns out it's popular with crafters and those making old-fashioned dolls). That's what I made this pair with. Do any of you know of a source for the "other", older, tighter-woven fabric? I'm sold on Osnaburg!

I know that Hamilton Dry Goods/Period Fabrics carries some Osnaburgs, but I've not ordered that particular fabric from them myself. The website has their phone number; in the past I've had great luck calling them--they *really* know their stock inside and out and can tell you anything you want to know about what they carry.

Thanks! I've seen that there before but forgot, I was looking for wool at the time-About a month ago I got three yards of Flag Blue worsted for my doublet from them.  I agree, I'm happy with them.

Me again!
I just got three yards of 72" wide Osnaburg from Hamilton-It puts the Joann's version to shame! I washed it, and it has the neatest look to it. I'm going to make a couple pairs of "work" pants out of it for my outfit. Thanks for reminding me about them.
