After having SEVER faire withdrawl when we had to watch our friends go to TRF for the weekend while we had to stay home; the PP and I are planning on having our first 'family' vacation be to Sherwood.  We are trying to decide which weekend to go.  As we need to put in our time off early we wanted to get this nailed down ASAP.

So what would be the best weekend for the PP, me, and the fuzzlet to visit.  We wanted to go a weekend where we would see most of our faire-mily.

I show that the faire is to run Feb11th thru April 1st.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

Nimue and I, and perhaps a few of our friends from up here, are planning to be there for opening weekend. There was quite a few R/Fers there last year for opening... I'm sure that Nim will be making time with the fuzzlet, should you decide to come that weekend. She's totally into babies. I want to see the little piratelet myself!

I'm planning on opening Saturday, the earlier in the season, the better chance of cool weather...but I'm having a bit of conflict about it because it's the same day as the annual "Irish Stew-Off" to benefit the parade commission. I might end up going to Sherwood on opening Sunday  ???

We'll see you there, Zardoz. Are you bringing your dad again? It seemed like he enjoyed himself last year...

If it's going to be a vacation I would suggest the three day weekend.

That time of year...the weather can vary by 40 degrees. I'm going to play it by ear..... target the opening weekend though... hopefully the satrs will line up for that.

Opening last year it was quite warm, especially on Saturday. I hope you make it down that weekend, because it will be our only weekend at Sherwood because of the distance. I think you're really going to enjoy it. Nim and I had a wonderful time last year.

I have yet to meet a day too cold to wear a kilt.  Heavy socks keep the legs warm and any number of clothing items can keep the upper part of me warm.  The kilt holds in enough warmth to keep my middle warm.

I just came back from Montreal.  The temp when I left was 0c.  Yes, I was kilted the entire time.  In fact, those who know me well know I only own two pair of jeans.  I'm kilted 7 days a week.  Even though I hate cold weather, it won't force me into a pair of jeans.  Only OSHA can do that (o:

Well time off was requested, and family is bouncing to see us.  If things work out we may have 6-7 additonal people tag along.  One of them hasn't be able to go to a faire in 8 years and has been sorely missing it. Then another group was happy beause they were looking for an excuse to go. :)

Then add in 2 locals that are wanting to go..... yesh i knew the 'Pink Flamingo' had a large crew but yowsa!
